i tried trimming my pubes and pits a few times, the short stubble irritated my skin and i got a pimple on my armpit.
i noticed that when i don't have pit hair, any sweat just immediately slides down my sides, but if there's hair it stays there.
i think there are pros and cons to removing most of your body hair, and letting it all grow naturally. it's easier to clean your skin with no hair, but hair has some uses.

Started with pubes, then arms, then everywhere else (execpt the hair on my head of course) and yes, my asshole is cleanly shaven. Its a pain but I cant go back.
