I'd like to, even though it's for a selfish reason. I think it would give me a greater sense of purpose in the world. It would be a bit of a burden to bear but it's a labor of love, slowly revealing the way of the world to your little guy and comforting them when it gets to be a little much. I know it's a huge responsibility but every parent I've talked to loves their kids wholeheartedly and few regret it. I'm not so sure what parenting style I'd use, don't want to helicopter them nor do I want to be the infamous absentee parent.

I want to but I'm not sure I could ever make a commitment on that scale. 80% or more of my money and free time totally gone, for at least 18 years, with no backing out. No quitting the job or changing careers - you HAVE to bring home a certain amount of $ for the kids, no exceptions. I have to admit, I may not ever be strong enough to make a total commitment like that. If I came into a fuckton of money by chance, I'd consider it more seriously.

When you bring someone into the world, you're gambling on the quality of their entire existence, you have no idea if their life will be good or bad. If 90% of people have good lives and 10% have terrible lives, does the suffering of the 10% justify the happiness of the 90%? No. The unborn aren't being deprived of anything if you don't bring them into existence.
