Does anyone here lucid dream? Is it an enlightening and fun experience, or is it just some fedora meme invented by faggots?
I read up on it and seems really interesting, I might try it soon. What are /r9k/'s experiences with it?
>>
It's just a meme. People lie having experienced it to make others jealous.
>>
I have had exactly 1 luicid dream and it didn't last very long. It was very fun being in control of the universe for a short period of time.
>>
>>28308932

It's fun you can throw fireballs like Goku. You can fly around, use telekinesis, have consequence-free sex that feels real. Who needs VR when you got the ultimate VR in your body?
>>
Yeah, been practicing it for 10 years now and gotten reaaally good at it. A few nights ago I was flying super fast across the horizon it was fucking amazing, but I was flying so fast my mind couldn't render it at that speed and the dreamworld started breaking, I turn back and fly the other through a building and was in some kind glitch a tunnel with a light at the end and I woke up. Be very skeptical about anyone claiming to lucid dream, lots of people like to pretend they can and role play, some say it's not real. It is real, it's very difficult to achieve and even more difficult to master. It's a little hobby of mine.
>>
I once had it few months ago. So it goes like this.

>wake up at 3am to pee
>sleep again but half awake and half asleep
>dreamt of heaven like place, like the color and slight glittering and shades of what you call them like mists.
>found my lovely pets walking by me and I come near a tree.
>tell myself "wow I know it's dream but I can touch the tree and check wether it's true or not"
>mfw I can actually feel the texture of the bark.
>slowly climb uphill and everything faded slowly.

Damn it was pretty wonderful.
I tried to have such dream again by waking up in the early morning and sleeping again, but I never could.
>>
>>28308950
>it hasn't happened to me so it doesn't happen to anyone
>>
>>28309124
I'm skeptical about that. I can feel in dreams, but can't quite feel enough to reach orgasm. What do you do? no-fap for a week or 2 to achieve this? Really wanna cum once in a lucid dream.
>>
>>28309210

> What is a wet dream

How you can be skeptical of something so commonplace.

Actually personally I never actually made it to "completion" in a dream, but have gotten down to business that was very graphic and realistic feeling.
>>
>>28309210
I get them more often when I don't fap for several days so going for a week or two without fapping should do. I think it's like a maintenance function. The body notices your balls haven't been emptied for a while so it fixes it on its own.
>>
It happens to me a few times a month but I have no control over when it does. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning I will be in some transition state between sleep and wakefulness. I am aware of the fact that I am awake yet I am still dreaming so I have full control over my dream.
>>
It's definitely real. I had one once. It went like this:

>Be in some weird tool shed
>Pinch my nose and try to breathe through it
>I can breathe through my nose even though I'm pinching it shut
>Realize it's a dream
>Suddenly everything becomes more colorful and vibrant, like technicolor
>The walls of the shed collapse
>I'm now standing in a beautiful field of luscious green grass and rolling hills as far as the eye can see
>Decide to fly
>Holy shit this is fucking insanely awesome
>Keep flying until I come across what appears to be a university
>See a group of students walking
>One of the girls in the group looks hot
>Decide that I want to have my way with her
>Swoop down like a motherfucking eagle and try to grab her
>Suddenly my body freezes up as if the atmosphere became extremely viscous and I can barely move my limbs
>Wake up

My best guess as to why I was unable to rape her is because my subconscious knew it was wrong and rejected it, thus fucking up the dreamscape. Anyway, it was a total mindfuck, and it has never happened again since then.

The key to tapping into lucid dreams is to pick an action that only happens in the dreamword and test it whenever you experience a sense of surreality in your waking life. For me it was pinching my nose and trying to breathe through it. For whatever reason, you can breathe through your nose even when pinching it in dreams. Another "test" is to flip a light switc. In the dreamworld, light switches never work for some reason. So, next time you're walking around in your day to day life and something feels "off" or weird, try pinching your nose and breathing or flipping the nearest light switch...Eventually your brain will associate the "test" with surreality...One day you'll do it and find that the switch doesnt work or that you can breathe through your nose...BOOM. You realize you're dreaming. Here comes the hard part. Don't freak out like OMG IM LUCID DREAMING, because that will cause you to wake up.
>>
I've had five brief lucids in the last year but lately haven't recorded many dreams or meditated, which is essential if you want to lucid dream.

I want to get more consistent and stable with it so I can live my fantasy of cumming on childrens' faces, not even kidding.
>>
I tried to get into it once and had one dream that went like this
>go to bed, sleep
>suddenly I stand in front of my house
>I know it was just a dream
>I try to create a girl in my class to fuck her
>nothing happens
>Im angry and wake up
>>
>>28309281
Well see the thing is you have to have experienced to create it in a dream especially so if you are in control. Ah fuck, I'm gonna have to bang a prostitute experience it and then do what >>28309294
said and I'll be able to have sex in dreams. I'm gonna start planning this.

It's like with anything, you need to have a good understanding of how something works before you simulate it in your mind and the mind can be astonishing at times like, perfecting summoning a revolver to shoot. It shoots exactly six bullets and then reload and it's like your brain remembers that.
>>
I think I'm gonna start animating what I do in my lucid dreams because they're very cool. I'm like lord and master of my own mind, it's like a computer

Imagine a future where you can record your dreams, I would make a fortune.
>>
We should call this a pill like the omegaalphapil.
Dude I have fucking genius idea, teach robots how to lucid dream and become a mind/dream researcher and get into programming and devise a way to instantly make games using you own mind. Like a an imprint of the dreamworld and convert into 1s and 0s BOOOM BABY.
>>
>>28309501

>Imagine a future where you can record your dreams
I think in the future it might be possible to translate brain waves into images, basically how we can convert the electric activity of a computer to images on the monitor. Both scary and interesting.

>I would make a fortune
Only if you invent it so better start working on it right now :^)

I lucid dream a lot.
Its fucking hard as fuck to get it under control in a way that you can dream every night like that.

When you become lucid, its hard to remember the stuff you actually want to do when lucid, so it just boils down to taking in the experience from the different scenarios you find yourself in.

Also, if you find yourself adopting the whole "porn and masturbation degenerates you" like i did, it makes it a lot easier to induce wet dreams and release the built up sexual tension.

I feel I should share this story with you robots

About 6 months ago I met a man named Polyraster in a thread much like this. We exchanged emails for the a few months before he stopped responding.

Basically, almost every night, he would have lucid dreams lasting hours, all with the same type of retro polygon settings. He made a site that explained exactly what he experiences:

https://sites.google.com/site/polyraster/

Here's a video he made of the experience: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhUrwIAbctY

The thing was, the dreams were so realistic, and so enticing, that he slowly lost connection to his real life. He even told me how he hates these dreams, as the price for them is his life itself, really philosophical shit.

I have a google drive he sent me if anyone's interested.

I'm a natural. I Should write a book about it. 10 years of experience in exploring my dream mind.
Best is to start with writing all your dreams down ,study them, keep notes.
The thing is dreamworld is weird, is different and you have to learn how to recognize dream from reality

I've been lucid dreaming since I was 8 or 9 years old. I've had vivid nightmares/night terrors since I was 4, and as soon as I could read adult books I checked out several on dreaming, lucid dreaming, etc. Learned how to do it in about a month. I did it every single night for years, relieving my anger and aggression through my dreams, building up greater and more elaborate fantasies over time.

When I was 13 or so, the lucid dreams started to exhaust me. I was no longer getting rest from my sleep whenever I lucid dreamed, so I had to stop. Now I only do it when I'm having an extremely bad nightmare and can make myself aware of it (which doesn't happen the majority of the time). I'd say I have about one lucid dream a month now. In fact, I had one last night, I'll put it in another post so I don't hit the character limit.

>I get closer to the body, expecting something weird to happen
>realize that I'm dreaming
>lock down the room, completely seal the door and windows, clear out all of the other stalls so it's just me and the body in a tiled room

>wake up just before I die

>tfw remember all of my nightmares in painfully vivid detail and don't forget them for weeks or months

How does one start? I'm currently keeping a fairly new dream journal with a sign on my wall that reminds me to remember my dream.

Is this all I really have to do, or are there other methods I can practice? Also, how long should I be doing this until I get results? I'm ready to invest some time, but I'm mostly curious.
>>
>>28310132
>>28310319
What's the deal with personifying the subconscious? Are you in reference to an ego split?
>>
>>28312457
Keep an eye out in your dreams for recurring things that do not happen in reality. For me:

>clocks never stay the same time (look at it once, it'll say 4:47. Look at it again, it'll say 11:33. etc.)
>text changes as I try to read it, making reading very difficult or impossible
>I can change my appearance when I look at my reflection and/or I can move my body through mirrors
>I can breathe underwater

Do "checks" for the things you notice when you're awake, by asking yourself, "am I dreaming?" and, if possible, do what you can to verify that the change does or does not happen. Once it becomes habitual, you'll alert yourself in your dreams that you are, in fact, dreaming, and trigger lucidity. This worked for me faster than anything else, even faster than keeping a dream diary. Do keep the diary every night, though, as it will help you to recall your dreams much better in the future.

Some people also swear that melatonin helps intensify their dreams, but it never worked for me.

- interlock your fingers and you can push your thumb right through your palm

I have dreams like that from time to time.
They usually happen in a familiar setting like a neighborhood I lived in, but somewhat changed up, and I don't have any special powers, besides the dreams somewhat lax mechanics.
Sometimes I'm even able to get good focus on some bit of scenery and I wonder how in the hell my mind is able to show me those crisp, detailed pictures. Ofc., after I wake up I don't remember any clear details.
>>
>>28312955
Thanks for reminding me I forgot a couple. These only happen to me some of the time, though:

>if you hold a sword, it will not stay stiff
>try to scream, it will come out as a whisper or not at all
>can't run
>when driving a vehicle, the steering wheel/pedals can be anywhere in the car
>when you kill someone they won't stay dead
>>
>>28313032

For me at least, if I try to hit something with a golf club or a baseball bat or something I miss it every time
>>
Here's a tip for anyone wanting to get into lucid dreaming, start getting into the routine of counting your fingers, when you are in a dream the number of fingers you have won't be five, and when you realise this you will become lucid. However you have to constantly do this for this to work. Also getting excited in them tends to make them end. Goodluck space robots.

Guys is the sleep paralysis/tricking body you're sleeping thing real? I'll explain.

>stay still
>get urge to roll over
>don't
>body says oh mind is asleep better go into sleep paralysis
>let the dream unfold
Is this true or is this some normie faked shit? If this is true, any tips?
>>
>>28316910
Sleep paralysis is real, but you don't need to attain it to attain lucidity. You're in sleep paralysis every night anyway. It's what keeps you from slapping yourself in the face at night.
>>
>>28317012
But it's possible to enter a lucid dream in the form of it?
>>
>>28308932
I had one once. It was pretty cool except by the time it became lucid I woke up shortly after.
>>
>>28317120
Yes, if you do what's called the WILD technique (wake-initiated lucid dream). Basically lie down and meditate and remain absolutely still, not even moving to scratch an itch, and eventually your body will shut down for sleep and you will enter a dream and MAY encounter sleep paralysis (you don't always feel it).

It can only be done right before you experience REM sleep, so it's best done during naps where you are really tired or early in the morning after you've already slept about six hours. It's also not recommended for novices, so I wouldn't worry about it right now.
>>
>>28317266
That's literally just sleeping though.
>>
>>28317314
The trick is you have to keep your mind awake. That's what I meant by meditation. Usually you focus on your breath, or observe the swirling colors that may appear behind your eyelids. Focus on anything but the body itself, truly focus, and you will pass seamlessly into a dream. It's hard to do without losing focus and falling asleep like normal.
>>
>>28317266
I personally prefer the Finger-induced Wake Back to Bed one. It's where you take a nap for 3-6-9 hours because REM. Then you wake up and you just start moving your index and middle finger as if you were touching two notes on the piano. Then you put less sensitivity and it just feels like you're touching them but they're not pushed. Repeat. Each 30 seconds close your nose and breath through it. If nothing happens, continue. If you breath air, shit bricks because you're oficially dreaming
>>
>>28317389
I've read that there's a 55% chance of it working if you're sleeping in general. It's 3 am right now and i'm sleepy. Should i give it a go?
>>
>>28317432
Yeah I tried that but no luck. Seems to work for a hell of a lot of people.

Mind you I never mastered WILD. I've only done it twice by accident, and it wasn't the way I recommended above (I did it at the beginning of the night but was so exhausted that it worked).
>>
>>28317473
Go for it, but don't concern yourself with whether or not it's gonna happen. A passive mental state is pretty important for all things lucid dreaming.
>>
>>28317473
Whoops i meant *sleepy in general
I guess it shows, hehe
>>
>>28317473
Alrighty. How long would it usually take to "go" to the lucid dream?
>>
i have a theory. that you can get gains or lose weight through lucid dreaming.

i'm willing to try it full swing but my brother keeps interfering with my sleep schedule which is vary essential to lucid dreaming

i remember hearing about a study done in 2004 where 3 groups were told to do work related tasks

group 1 was told to go about their day without working out

group 2 was told to sit and think about working out hard for an hour i think a day

group 3 was put on a workout routine for the week

at the end of the week(s)(month) they all went to the gym to see their improvements

group 1 had 0% improvement

group 2 had 14% improvment

group 3 haf 18-21% improvment

group 2 saw improvement just by daydreaming about working out, imagine the gains from doing the most deepest form of meditation that is lucid dreaming.
>>
>>28317564
Wow. Will try this next time i enter a lucid dream.
>>
>>28317548
I can tell you're tired, you quoted yourself!

It usually takes twenty minutes. No more. If you're trying and it hasn't happened by then, give up for the moment and just go to bed like normal. You'll only keep yourself up and frustrate yourself if you try too long or concentrate too hard. There's such a thing as having your mind too awake, to effectively lucid dream you have to attain a balance between alertness and sleepiness. It's tricky, that's why the WILD technique isn't recommended for novices. It's better to just keep the thought of lucid dreaming in your mind and practice remembering your dreams in detail, and it will happen on its own, naturally. You will be in the middle of a dream and suddenly realize you are dreaming. It's happened to me more times than the other way.

Most likely, if you're tired, you'll either enter the dream within minutes or just lose consciousness like normal.
>>
>>28317548
it can take up to 3 mouths for one to learn probably 3000 if your half assing it and playing video games until 12:AM
>>
>>28308932
It's really hard to remember specific goals, and it's very easy to wake yourself up. If you aren't careful you'll completely forget that you're dreaming and just go back to a normal dream.
>>
Disturbed sleep + dream journaling + frequent wake time reality checks = lucid dreams are a lot more likely.

It's been a few weeks since my last one because i haven't been doing my reality checks.

Regular dreams seem so pointless if i can't even take charge.

Benefits of lucid dreaming for me include: A safe environment to experiment alternative behaviors and to confront fears. Personal enjoyment. One of the most immersive adventures you can have.
>>
Are there any simple methods other than the ones listed above? I can't remember my dreams easily, maybe once every two weeks on average but these dreams I remember will be pretty vivid. I've accidentally gone into sleep paralysis once and couldn't move my body at all which was pretty unnerving so I'm not doing that again.
>>
All lucid dreaming is is realizing you're in a dream.

Sometimes you work "within the plot" and try to realize the adventure through conscience actions. And other times you go "off script" and do whatever you want while the rest of the cast struggles to remain in character. I usually find myself unbuttoning the Princess' dress and start groping her tits as she stoicly tells me about the Evil threatening the kingdom. Most amusing. Every female becomes my personal plaything.
>>
I can never start a lucid dream, but once in awhile I can take a dream I'm already having and gain control over it.

Usually it happens when I'm having a dream that's so outrageously bullshit that my 'dream self' isn't falling for it anymore. Once I can realize, 'oh shit, wait, this is just a stupid dream,' I can do whatever I want.

I usually either fly or do sexual stuff. While orgasms from sex are better, the orgasms I have in my sleep are fucking intense. Much moreso than a good dedicated masturbation session.
>>
I have had dreams where I thought I was in control, but perhaps that was just another layer of the dream. If so, I don't really care, and can't see much of a difference.
>>
>>28308932
I don't have dreams where I'm in control but they are very vivid and real. They are usually creepy and I wake up around 4:00 am with a light sweat all over. In my case they are from regularly smoking pot then stopping. It's pretty common apparently.
>>
>>28317851

keep a dream diary, it will help you to remember your dreams way better and notice reocurring themes to help you realize when you're dreaming

This. Dream recall is important. Essential, even. In addition to keeping a journal, get in the habit of staying still when you wake up instead of getting up to pee or check your phone. Lay and think about what you may have just dreamt. You'll be surprised how much starts coming to you.

Keeping still when waking is also the prime moment to attempt to re-enter sleep with the WILD technique. ;D

that is a good pro-tip, if you open your eyes and start moving your brain starts taking in new information and thinking about real life stuff, you want to lay there with your eyes closed not taking in any new stimulation so you can think about any dreams you had and remember them
