Bump your own threads OP. If you put effort into a thread, it's probably better than most of the stuff in the catalog and you might as well bump it. People rarely enter threads after they're at about page five or so, so for most of a threads' stay in the catalog nobody is paying attention to it. Every time it goes to page 1 there's a chance people will see it and reply to it, and threads which seemed completely dead can snowball pretty easily.
This is why more people should browse the back of the catalog and save decent threads before they die.
