I'm now in uni and there's a guy that hangs with me, when you barely feel any emotions you can see things more rationally and I can read him as a book, I know he has emotional problems, I know he has problems with his self-image and I know he is trying to hide away the fact that he has no friends, I can capitalize on these things at any moment, I can encourage his looks and gain something from him, I can tell him how well spoken and social he is and gain something from him. SOME people are incredibly easy to manipulate, but some are incredibly hard. I think we can still make good friends, but the difference is that we can only make good friends based on for example common interests, because we have insane difficulties connecting to people on emotional level or conforming to social norms (one of my biggest problems and I can't fix it no matter how much I try) If you find someone that has a lot of in common with you, you will get along well and you might or will understand his/her emotions, it's just that they won't affect you. Rest of the population can make friends easier, because they react to eachothers emotions and bond, I can't do that.

Only one friend of mine ever called me out as a "semi psycho" after I gave him many hints. I didn't even try to hide it, and he is smart on top of it. That being said, they're as close as they can be. It's frustrating for them, sometimes. Same with family, but it's rooted at the core of our personalites. I would go to great lengths for them, but there's always a sort of emotional distance. It's really hard when they're going through some shit, because I'm not anything approaching the best for emotional support.
The only other thing is, I don't like being told what a good friend I am. I'd just prefer to do my personal best for that person and not really be bothered with their gratitude. It's literally no problem.

I think when I'm sober I am able to control my urges and obey social norms to some extent, but alcohol makes my "mask" slip completely. I often feel like a chameleon in terms of my personality/actions etc. While I do have a "base" personality, depending on the situation and person I interact with I can be different.
