Here's my tried and true way to deal with it.
Step one is realizing that you have a problem and acknowledging that as a lack of emotional resources. You only have a limited supply in your life now, treasure even the slightest brush because you must stretch it out to last you weeks now.
Step two is surrogating the emotional resources yourself. Gradually, take the difference created by what you need and what you have. Fill it up with cynicism. It doesn't matter how, as long as it's directed against everyone and everything -- say you're used to the universe fucking you over, say it's the way humans work that you're the bottom of the barrel, say everyone including you makes shit happen together.
Step three is cutting off the supply from step one and becoming a cynic, saying what the fuck he wants, fucking with people all the time. Because that's all there's left in your life and, hey, you're totally okay with that. You know that life sucks, you know why life sucks. Life is just one continuous turd of shit that, no matter how much you wipe, still continues to smell and stain your toilet paper.
