work your way up to an hour on the treadmill everyday. then after a while of that, start lifting.

one exception to that, take a single serving of an energy drink in the morning with your breakfast. read the label to know how much is a single serving, it won't be the entire bottle or can.

record your weight and waist once per week.

you will see progress and not feel so shitty. once you get a little more energy and confidence, throw that into really getting into it at the gym.

Thank you, genetics. I mean, I don't look great, but at least I'm not getting fat like everyone else my age. I look the same as I did in high school except for my ability to grow a thick beard and a barely noticeable receding hairline now.

with strength you need to work with a weight that you can only lift about 5 times for 3-5 sets.

So, take me when I started lifting. I could squat 135 (1 45lb. plate on each side of the 45lb. barbell) 5 times for 5 sets.

To build mass you have to eat a surplus and work with a weight that you can lift about 10 times. So, if you want bigger biceps you would (all things being equal) curl a 20 lb dumbbell 10 times rather than a 30 lb dumbbell 5 times. Over time you'll gain strength through building mass, and in truth you will gain mass on either a strength-focused or hypertrophy/bodybuilding-focused routine so long as you eat a surplus over your TDEE (google it.)

Go to /fit/ and read the sticky. And don't say toned because such a thing doesn't exist. You can lose fat so your muscles show better, but you can't "tone" a muscle. You can stregthen it, make it larger, both, whatever. "Toning" is a nonsense word.
