I don't think the communists had very positive opinions about state and kings. A lot of modern socialist movements were inspired by the French Revolution- insomuch that Lenin called Danton the first truly modern revolutionary.

the only true question to be asked of any of these ideologies is this: are the interactions involved voluntary or involuntary?
For example "the workers" currently own the means of production in the western world via the stock market. But this is a voluntary interaction. You don't have to buy shares and you don't have to sell shares or list your company for that matter. However if "the workers" own the means of production by force then this is different.
Again if you want to make a club that hates jews that's one thing, no one is forced to join, but if you force everyone to join at the point of a gun then that is completely different.
All the basket case ideologies that rest on the initiation of force belong together. They all have the same basic motive (they covet their neighbour's wealth) and all have the same basic end (to steal that wealth via means of the state.)
