>tfw 25 and stuck in a dead end job making 40k a year
>married living in a 1 br apartment, want a 2 br house

How do we get out of this rut bros?
>>
40k year sounds amazing. I'm 25 and make 14k a year :/. About to graduate with an art degree and probably make slightly more if I get lucky...
>>
>>28266171

I don't know if you guys live in some slavic shithole but 40k here in the states really isn't that much.
>>
>>28266304
I could understand if he lives in New York City or LA or something but jesus, 40k is actually really respectable at 25. Right now I'm hoping I can make half that, and I'm 25 aswell. I have 3 roommates in rural FL and its hard to live
>>
>>28266171

>married

why are you here

/adv/
>>
>>28266334
Living in ireland, 24k per year and this is considered very good, I can afford rent etc and have left over as well.
>>
>>28266334
Minimum wage in the states translates to something like 15-17k each year, and plenty of people live off that. You're doing fine, stop trying to make things sound worse than they are
>>
>>28266372
>>28266304, flat rent is like 5k a year, maybe 12k for a house? murifags, your house prices are crazy cheap, seriously shut up.

>art degree
found your problem.
>>
>40k / year @ 25
That's not bad. Not great, but not bad.
>dead end job
Time to start developing your skills and re-doing your resume. Put in the extra time outside of work to increase your skills.
>How do we get out of this rut bros?
Don't have kids for at least 5 years. Or maybe you should, lot of people seem to be more motivated when they have a kid. Just make sure your wife isn't gonna divorce you and leave you destitute. Put your $$$ in an offshore bank account if she starts getting rowdy.

Why being rude?
I've worked 8 hours a day, 5 days a week and traveling took me like 2-3 hours a day, no insurance or health care and I made about 300 USD a month. Such is a life in slavland. No need to bully even more.

>>28266171
>How do we get out of this rut bros?
At this point, I either win at some kind of lottery or it's just going to stay like this.
>>
>>28266605
We actually promised we aren't gonna have kids until we're 30.

The thing is it's a family business and if I wait 20 years or so I'll own the damn thing and make over 100k but I can't wait that long if I want to have a family.
>>
>>28266823
Well if it's a family business then you've got it made. Do whatever you want. If you need more money right now just help them improve the business, or start some small thing on the side. Run a home daycare, that's profitable and easy and will tide you over on having kids for a couple years.

>decided to move out of this guy's place next weekend because I get the feeling he doesn't respect me (Vietnamese, yells at me for having my window open when he runs the heat even though my room was like 80 degrees because. Threatened to increase my share of the utilities even though I thought I was being cool by saying "It's cool if you guys need the heat, since I don't.)

>690 a month

>starting to regret my decision, since I don't know if I'll find somebody I want to live with any better anyways
>wondering if I should just go tell him I don't want to move out anymore and just tough it out until I make some friends just to enjoy stability

fug. Wat do? Rent up here for a 2 bedroom place is like 1800 bucks a month on average. I'm beginning to get nervous as hell because I don't have any income, and wondering if maybe i should just tough it the fuck out. I was halfway moving out to try and save some cash over the next few months, but I don't even think that's a good idea.

I'm stressing the fuck out. Am I making a bad decision here, and letting my emotions get the better of me? Boulder is such a fucking expensive city but the college is good.

40k would be poverty tier in LA or SF but there are loads of smaller cities where anything over 30k is breddy cozy living
>>
>>28266699
nigga if you are actually ketchup and breed tier buy a rice cooker and some enriched brown rice and beans and you will be eating more filling shit
>>28266993
is that $100 a month or a semester
>>
>>28267472
I live in south florida so If I want a house I need to pay 1500 plus health insurance and utilities. I don't think 40k could cover that...
>>
>>28267502
>nigga if you are actually ketchup and breed tier
>buy a rice cooker and some enriched brown rice and beans

when you're at ketchup and bread tier it's because you don't have any food left in the house to eat and you only have ketchup and bread left. That means you can't just go out and buy a rice cooker and rice and beans.

W2c lofts then

>>28267430
I suppose I could do that, and I shouldn't be as picky as I am now. A good chunk of it comes from a) me wanting to be in the city to try and promote a good social life and b) Forces me to bike places in the summer to keep in shape.

I suppose I could broaden my search range though and try to not be picky. I just don't have a whole lot going on right now, and don't really have a whole lot of friends here. (If at all) kek

But I suppose beggars can't be choosers
>>
40k a month is not bad in the least if you are living alone, especially if you have roommates. I can see why you feel poor if your wife leeches off of you and won't work and it's 40k between the 2 of you, but if she works, you need to fix your fucking finances senpai
>>
>>28267534
>i live near the beach
>shocked shit is expensive

>>
>>28267502
I meant the ticket cost was something over 100 dollars, I don't remember what exactly. I'm not sure if that's cheap or not since I haven't gotten a ticket before, but she's gotten four over the past two months alone. Per semester they must be spending something like 7k, maybe more. They pay through the nose so she can live by campus in nice accommodations because they're afraid she won't go to class if she doesn't. Jokes on them, she hardly does anyways.
>>
>40k a year
>poor

I live on like 12-14k worthless Canadian dollars a year these days and I have everything I could ever want. And everything here is expensive.
>>
>>28267607
Oh shit, I actually just did the math. Turns out I live on about $8k a year Canadian monopoly money. Literally $8,000. It's cause I'm on welfare.
>>
>>28267563
Look, I don't live in CO, but round here there are some nice towns with decent shops and stuff, rent is cheaper and the commute is short enough to still meet people on weekends if that's what you're into. I wouldn't waste the money on inner-city rentals again, you pay for being near clubs.

I would love to have 35k

That's where you fucked up, you goddamned idiot.

You'd be better off making 12k a year single than 40k with some pig wife and potential child.
