I was on more than the recommended dose since apparently my liver dealt with it so well, hell I was the only patient that got more not less, had it for the full six months twice and here I am still fucked, meanwhile the other patients are living happy acne free lives after their first half dosage treatment. At this point I don't think there's anything more the nhs can do for me, I'll just have to get some cream to hopefully fix the scars and live feeling disgusted by myself

I know its none of my business but I'm female and had a literal beard of acne, I read its from hormonal problems if its on your jaw. I started taking supplements and its all gone now. I take cod liver oil, D3, K2, DIM and milk thistle extract. They all helped and if I stop taking one of them now it gets worse, but I think the most important for hormonal was the DIM. It helps your body convert estrogen. I also stopped eating dairy and peanut butter. If I eat diary even once I get a cystic pimple. I also sleep on my back and use 2% BHA (salicylic acid) gel 2x a day and benzyl peroxide every night. It's a lot of work but my face finally looks human again. Not trying to tell you what to do, just giving information to anyone who maybe is at the end of their rope and doesn't know what to do. Acne fucking sucks. Really hope it clears up for you anon.

I took a stack of DIM/D3/E/A and it didn't do anything for me after 2+ months. Most people say it starts working after 4-6 weeks.
I'm aware it's hormonal, and I thought DIM would be the answer, but I finished two bottles at max dosage and stopped taking it. In fact, my skin has calmed down now. It's sad.
The reason I started taking it is my skin was pretty decent on Alesse which is a high androgen pill, and I thought DIM would at least work to clear out the estrogen in my body. Nothing really happened. I stopped taking Alesse a year and a half ago because the side effects were spooky, my hair was thinning out. It permanently fucked up my hair and I wasn't going to risk losing all of it. Ever since then I've had bad skin again. Still beats the possibly of literally going bald? I'm doing a chemical peel on Friday and then starting accutane once my skin heals from that. Right now I'm doing dds in the mornings, adapalene and benzoyl peroxide at night, and I try to exfoliate when I can remember but its really hard because of how dry my skin has gotten from the two. I don't do it every night though, more like every other night or every three days because my dr said every day will just irritate my skin more - something my old doctor ignored and basically is the reason my entire face is covered in scars now. Also lol I tried from hydroquinone as a spot treatment last week and ended up with a really bad burn.
The reason I don't mind going on accutane again is while the side effects do suck (vertigo, dryness all over, etc) it also helps massively with premature wrinkling which I also have because bless my genetics, kek.
Hopefully I can squeeze out at least a couple of months of clear skin this year, who knows.

Get a light-diffusing formula like Revlon or Almay, or a nice CC cream like lumene, and set it with pressed powder. Your bumps won't be visible from most angles. I had some bad acne, and it was concentrated on the right half of my face. So left side was mild acne, and right side was severe acne. I took accutane for 7 months, and two years later, no pimples, I get a red spot here and there but it usually leaves within a day and it's not filled with pus or leaves scars. Accutane was a blessing, sure it'll affect your entire body, my cholesterol levels went off the roof the first 2 months, my liver was fine though, and after watching my diet (which also helped losing weight, so another bonus), everything went back to normal. I don't even have black heads anymore, everyone compliments me on my skin.
Try it, and really be consistent with it or it won't work.

It does nothing to get rid of scars, getting rid of scars can only be done after acne is cleared.
It cleared me up completely in about 9 months, the scars were another issue though.
If you are the guy in the pic I honestly don't know what you're complaining about. My acne was seriously about 10x as bad as yours you don't seem to have any large cysts like I did. I basically had fucking tumours on parts of my face not just small bumps.

It made my skin very dry but also my eyes, I had to switch from lenses to glasses. I used to moisturize my skin twice a day, thanks to that, it didn't feel or look dry. The first 1.5 month, my acne got worse, my doctor warned me, but starting month 2, everything was starting to disappear. My skin reached its peak around month 4, never in my post puberty life have my skin looked so good, it was better than now, seriously nothing.
It won't help with scars, that doesn't depend on accutane, since it only reduces sebum production.
I had lots of hyperpigmentation, not really scars. But to get rid of that, I have been following a strict skin care routine, I give my face soft peels twice a week and I use a vitamin c serum as well as sunblock every day. I have no proof any of that improved my skin, but my hyperpigmentation is really really light now, almost invisible (I just checked now).
Needless to say, I'm very happy with my accutane experience.

It's also pretty fucking expensive and multiple treatments will be needed. There's also a chance it can go horribly wrong and destroy your whole face but the chance for that is low I was told.
My skin worries are in the past now though. It used to be the biggest concern in my life and it's kind of weird looking at threads like these seeing people as worked up over their skin as I once was.
