Thrash metal came back recently, so did some core grunge in some form or another.

I still mostly listen to metal, but also find myself listening to a lot of blues, folk, classic rock, and even some hip hop these days. quite a few people (especially younger metalheads) seem to have this notion that one has to either listen exclusively to metal or not listen to it at all, which is completely ridiculous given that most major metal musicians regularly seek musical inspiration from non metal musicians
