After college, I went to some D-league try outs. I'm really 5'8, but they kept listing me at 5'11. Their was even one try out where the guy wasn't even using a measuring tape or tool, he was just asking guys their height, so I told him 5'10, then he said to me "are you sure your not 6'0", I told him no, but if I said yeah, he wouldn't have had a problem in listing me at 6'0.
I also went to some arena football league tryouts, and they were alot more concerned about being accurate, they listed me at 5'8.25

People lie about their height all the time. Worse yet, people are generally shit at telling people's heights. The result you get is a disproportionate amount of men who are "6'0", just like how all the high schoolers here just happen to be over the bar at "18".
