Yes, but I live in a state that has relatively low cost of living. Even though I live in a big city, the job is located just outside of it and serves a more rural area, jobs tend to pay less here in general.
I'm unemployed now but I have been interviewing at lots of different places. Some other private companies pay better, but this particular job is for a non-profit that sustains itself by providing water services to local communities, I don't believe it's subsidized by the government. Perhaps that's the difference. I think other companies that are state-run may pay better, I'm not sure. It still sounds chill and stable compared to other high-workload labs I've checked out. The pay is considered average. I hope to start there and get a better paying job after I have a few years of experience, or get promoted if possible.
