I had an idea today, based half in the cuck meme and half in business and financial reality. Hear me out: Take shipping containers and convert them to livable spaces. The square footage inside is modest, it's a simple metal box that lacks windows- good for a 4chan shut in. You can take these deployable homes and stack them, arrange them in a commie style block, and house people in an affordable and organized fashion.

Some things to know
>hipster faggot websites will say 'cheap $2000 shipping container home!' Ignore this meme. Shipping containers usually coat double that (still cheaper than other housing)
>renters codes have basic guidelines that you must follow. The facility must have running water, heat, a/c, and electricity.
>would need to look into a lawyer to write a second layer contract between landlord and tenant, ensuring speedy removal of tenants that don't pay
>housing law is often stacked against landlords. It's hard to evict unruly renters and you have to abide by 'discrimination' law
>equipping each unit with facilities is expensive. 4k for decent crate plus probably 6k in work on each one.
>would need a crew member that welds as well as a crew member with a crane (if we decide to stack the units for an apartment feel)
>would be aimed at NEETs who want to live with people with the same hobbies and interests with them. But, NEETs have no income. There rests an issue.
>could charge ~900 a month for rent in a snobby white artsy part of town if we make it aesthetically pleasing and target hipster tenants.

Do you think this is a good venture? Would it be worth dropping ten thousand dollars on a metal NEETbox? (plus buying the land) I want to make money and not be a poorfag for the rest of my life.

Would you live in a NEETbox/cuckshed?

Bumping cuckshed threas
>>
if it was easy everyone would be doing it
>>
calling it a cuckshed won't make anyone on here interested
the cuck meme is supposed to annoy people, not engage them and make them laugh
>>
>>28200688
wood, cement, and drywall are cheaper than shipping containers and it's a lot easier to waterproof, insulate, and run electricity through them.

this is why houses aren't made of shipping containers.
>>
>>28200688
Already done. Someone is building a multimillion dollar home out of shipping containers down the street from me.
>>
>>28200688
People already do this op.

You're better off making doomsday shelters.
>>
arent similar things called trailers? they just are originally built for living
>>
>>28200688
>pinterest furnishing.

fuck that, no windows on my cuckshed.
>>
>>28200882
It's been done before, I'm aware. In this case, one person would live in one cuckshed. Wouldn't be a connected complex. They would be separate and they'd have their own small yard space. It would be small scale modest living.

The cuck meme always makes me laugh, bro. I don't want cuckery irl, but it's pretty hot in porn sometimes.
>>
>>28200688
Need a building permit in most places in the us for any structure over 120 sqft.

That being said a few companies are making high end prefab 120sqft sheds. Some with plumbing/electric/heat/ac/wifi etc. They're like 20-50k.
>>
>>28200867
This is the same conclusion I came to. I was interested in using a shipping container for a cabin. After insulation, electrical, plumbing, cutting, and welding, it's cheaper and easier to go with a traditional build. However if you want a cheap storage unit a shipping container is a great mobile option.
>>
>>28200951
>companies
I could do it myself for cheaper, I'm saying I would be the company.
>>
>>28200867
Prefab in general is a meme.

It's cheaper and more practical to rehab old housing.
>>
>>28200987
Are you any good? Want to build me one?
>>
>>28200688
They are not by any means bullet proof senpai, I was in the militarybfor 12 years and 8 deployments some of these containers we used as guard towers reinforced with sand bags or get lucky bullet proof windows, I stayed many times in conex boxes for quarters and it was very comfy, they are easy to turn into a place to live but keep in mind they are meant to stack weight on the sides not meant to be burried you can get them fairly cheap biggest issue is shipping and location I can answer questions if you have any about them? I have turned 1 into a cabin out on some land I own no plumbing though
>>
1) no insulation

2) no soundproofing (if you had them stacked it would be unbearable

3) sewage and hydro how?

4) legitimately boring design

at $4000 a cuck you could make artsy smallhouse cottage and they'd look much nicer

Maybe someday. It's time for me to start doing something. I'd like to look into it. I also just like to toss ideas around and trial balloon interest for my silly ideas. Would you live with some fellow robots, assuming you could pay rent?
>>
>>28200688
Also this idea has been around for decades, there is a fair amount of people who do this but 900 a month is not going to happen, there are building codes and most wont meet thebstandards in the area you are talking about
>>
>>28201048
running a wizard monastic on cheap prairie or maritime land sounds much better to me. $40,000 for 30 acres

I imagine having one big house technically legal for housing, but having the guys each make one of their own a la dwarf fortress
>>
>>28201032
How much money did you spend? Is it possible to have a small bathroom onsite?
>>
>>28201044
Im not OP the nice thing about them is its easy to build in, we did it all the time insulation is cake, walls cake making rooms just as easy, its very comfy you would be suprised how nice you can make them with nothing
>>
>>28201048
Dude I'm good. I'm looking to put a high end shed in my backyard in Brooklyn to serves as a home office.
>>
Here is the house they're building down the street from me.

>>
I work in a building made of recycled shipping containers, it sucks. barely any space for anything, gets way too hot, looks ugly, etc. NEETs with no better options will go for it though, and hipster retards might too, but neither of these are markets one can make much profit from
>>
>>28201095
It's def possible. I looked at 120 sqft shed w/ a toilet, sink and shower.
>>
>>28201095
I retired in alabama so its cheap I got the largest I could find and put it on 10 acres in bum fuck, yes bathrooms are doable onsite showers etc the only problem you will have with that is a "city" water line, but if water table is low get a well, and guess what bam, water pressure shower and bathroom and septic tank, you will need at least 10k for the setup and DIY, tools are $$ so hope you know someone who has them all the big cost will be location delivery and septic tank pipes etc, you can get land cheap depending on where you are at
>>
>>28201192
I would agree its not much of profit, but you can live xomfy in them, once you realise you dont need all these dumb items and live outbofna bag ofnclothes its not bad, I live in a house with a family but they arenplenty big and younstill can put what you want in them, a fridge stove microwave etcs
>>
>>28201195
Thanks man, first hand information is helpful. Have any pics of it to share?
>>
>>28201309
We'd be aiming at people who are currently living out of one bedroom as is. There would be more space than they'd need. I think the NEETbox would be comfy as well.
>>
>>28201095
Now depending on location power is a big problem, yes you can get solar BUT panels are costly and all the batterys are too if you are not near a power line, never considered laundry but you could do it the old fashion way if not enough room, AC/heat easy cut holes in it window AC the stove you could do propane or wood heater just make sure ventalation is going outside like a good ventalation
>>
>>28201322
Sorry senpai I dont.. I dont take pics I dont have any of me in the military either

This is the shed I was considering. They want 21k for it (no plumbing).
>>
>>28201371
There would be an extra cuckshed on-site that would have community washer/dryer. I'd like other common areas as well.

This would be happening in Massachusetts by the way. I take it insulation costs would kill me, yes?
>>
I'd consider one if the plumbing & water problems aren't there
>>
>>28201353
People already do "green homes", honostly people live out of mobile homes etc a connex box is the same but last longer, the concept is great and its cheap I know a guy whonlives in a 20ft trailer and he is happy with it and cost him nothing now
>>
>>28201420
Cut out all the fancy hipster shit and it would be much cheaper. Literally just a metal box. Add one door, one window. Then you'd have the money to have plumbing on-site. The one pictured has a nasty markup, as well as Pinterest tier decor. 0/10

>>28201424
Dry wall is cheap, never been there wanted to get stationed there though, your biggest issue will be buying land and permits, it cost lots of money to have permits and let alone to have people living there like lots of money, I'm trying to buy 2nd house but for my inlaws and its tricky
>>
>>28201453
but insulated, wired for electric, installed in NYC etc.

But for the most part I agree with you. You're paying a lot of money for design. The only 120sqft model i could find prefab w/ plumbing was 51k.

so if there are any amateur shed builders out there looking for work...
>>
>>28201424
IMO work save money by a acre of land away from people and build yourself a place to live, but thebtools ifnyou dont have them are costly and youndont want to have someone do it cuz $$, and i would suggest get someone who knows electricty to do the wiring for you, BUT lots require permits..

Honestly it would be smarter (just looks less cool) to buy old used school trailers. I see these on Craigslist often for ~1500 dollars. Only issue is that many font come with on-site bathrooms. It's ready to be hooked up to power, already fit for humans to live in. Kind of

Many of them need to be rebuilt for sure, but it is the same square footage for 1/4 the price. Would you people live in a NEETbox if it looked a little more trashy?
>>
>>28201528
>Honestly it would be smarter (just looks less cool)
yeah, but those look like where you go to hang yourself tbqh.

I really appreciate your input guys, saving your posts and considering what you're bringing up if I look into this further

To clarify I'd be doing multiple of these cucksheds then renting them out, I wouldn't only be making one for myself.
>>
>>28201528
Because those attract tornadoes.

Shipping containers dont.
>>
>>28201645
As false as that is I actually do feel like tornadoes actively seek to destroy those. You're probably right.

But, >>>/massachusetts/ won't be an issue.
>>
>>28200688
How are you gonna move a shipping container, genius?
>>
>>28201734
Flatbed. It's rather simple actually.
>>
>>28200688
>metal exterior

i would at least wrap it in bales of hay with stucco. It's considerably cheaper to insulate without losing interior space.
