I like sushi pretty well- but the fact that I'm in a land-locked state and fairly poor might mean I like it due to the novelty of it, I am 0% Japanese

I worked in a Korean sushi place as a server.
I preferred serving sushi as opposed to bibimbap, which was so hot I constantly fear spilling it on myself/customers leading to lifelong disfigurement.

I like sushi fine, as long as it doesn't have any mayo or cream cheese. There's this japanese steakhouse I get sushi from sometimes and it's pretty good. I get the rainbow sushi. The ginger and wasabi are too much though.
The thing with sushi is it tastes so different from how it looks. It looks really nice and delicious, but the colors suggest sweetness and citrus because those are normally produce colors. But of course it's fish and doesn't taste anything like what my brain associates with those colors. I can't think of a food where there's so much dissonance between how it looks and how it tastes.

I'm only a few years away from being able to obtain Japanese citizenship, but I don't really want to. So I suppose I'm only roughly 40% Japanese.
Some sushi is good. I unfortunately live in a province fairly far from the coast, so I'm often screwed when it comes to getting good fish.
I had some foul swordfish about a month ago that almost turned me off of it, from the same place I got some of the best halibut I ever had.
