I never ever cried because of an anime/movie/tv show etc, but this anime is simply a masterpiece in my opinion.Yes, it has too much melodrama, yes it's very cliche sometimes, yes the characters are retarded sometimes,yes the pace is very slow, but even though, I absolutely adore this anime and I will probably never forget it.

I thought it was gonna be a fun adventure film. I watched a bunch of Kunihiko Yuyama's films, so I was expecting more of the same.
It's based on a novel too, so that's why its plot is a bit better than most film/ova.
The majority of the feels were from the manga but whatever.

It's hard to explain but I took it as the characters maturing and overcoming their flaws. Most of them started off as immature assholes but throughout the series are forced to come to the realization that their ideals aren't perfect and are holding them back. The antagonist is an adult but he acts like a child and refuses to attempt changing his ways.
I think this is apparent with the school being seemingly frozen in time, like how it shows Miki with the stopwatch constantly and the bit during the Nemuro arc with the cats growing up during a single conversation. Until they come to terms with themselves they can't leave/graduate from the school.

She was a weeb, and a cosplayer. Really, really cute. I couldn't believe she liked me. She was cool, level-headed, had good taste in anime and cosplayed obscure characters nobody else cared about.
It all changed when I introduced her to a certain popular series, and she absolutely fell in love with a character from that show, a character that happened to be a very popular waifu. My ex cosplayed that character, and was so damn perfect for her that the pictures went viral. Suddenly she was famous.
Things all went downhill from there. The cool, confident girl got more and more paranoid, neurotic, and crazy as time went on. She turned into a sort of Umaru - only leaving the house when she could put her perfect face on, and then uselessly lying around doing nothing and demanding to be served all the time. She was constantly convinced that other girls were out to get her, and so was involved in vendetta shit constantly, and got incredibly neurotic about her appearance to the point that even I barely ever got to see her body.
The fame really went to her head, and she became resentful of me for not treating her like the "queen" everybody on social media thought she was. She started drinking a lot, too. She was aware of her character issues, but became strangely chuuni about them, calling herself a tsundere or hime.
The guy she fell in love with, who she moved in with after I dumped her, wasn't even a Chad or anything. He was a jobless, overweight, balding manlet weeaboo, but he absolutely worshipped the ground she walked on and beta orbited her like crazy. That clearly suited her more than an assertive guy who didn't put up with her shit 24/7.
I don't know the guy, but all of our old mutual friends hate him, and her now too. His yes man shit let her go off the deep end.

Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa?
ARIA the Origination is easily the anime thats made me cry the most. First two seasons of ARIA had some episodes that got to me, but the last season was on whole another level. The last 5 episodes are so goddman beautiful and theres so much buildup towards it that it just hits you hard. You get so attached to those characters and the setting and it just hits you like a train when you realize that it'll all come to an end soon, and you almost don't want that. It hits all the more harder when those characters you love are going through the same exact thing, trying to cherish the present as much as they can before they have to grow up and move on towards the future.
Special mention to pretty much anything Naoko Yamada directs. K-ON!!, Tamako love Story, Hibike! Euphonium all resonate with me so much emotionally, to the point where almost nothing else compares. She treats her characters and their feelings so tenderly, and understands them so well down to their little details. Helps that her direction itself is fantastic. Can't wait for her Koe no Katachi film.

Don't be a faggot. The filler towards the end was fantastic, which is something I almost never say. It was episodic, fun, well-paced, and had character growth that actually succeeded in making me hate icebitch less. It showed that the show was aware of its own pretentions and hyperbolic melodrama, but managed to still run with it.
