I want to open this thread in order to discuss what features you'd like in the new minecraft server. I'll be hosting it hopefully this afternoon once the map and plugins are set up, and then I'll make a new thread to share the IP.

I want to keep the server faithful to vanilla but not pure vanilla. I hosted a vanilla server for three years and in the long run it's better and less cluttered.
A big island with smaller islands surrounding it. Keep it as vanilla as possible and get it up and running ASAP
Keeping it close to vanilla is a good idea, also make it big enough for people to be able to mostly stay out of each others ways. And give it randomly generated caves, the nether, the end, and a gigantic statue of Elliot Rodger made out of bedrock.

I'd like for a rules system where the people accused of crimes can actually be tried in court and make their case.
This adds immersion and it might be fun, obviously if somebody fucked up they probably won't be let off but the rules of the server should be treated much like a constitution, so that even when punishing players the rules must be adhered to.

Personally, I recommend using at least Zan's Minimap if we're keeping this close to vanilla. I just adds a minimap, and allows for markers to be placed, so that we don't get lost.
