I don't really play Minecraft a lot, mainly because pirate, but the few servers I've joined have had a plugin that forces you to create a password for the name you're using when you first join.
If you've joined with a name that's already registered, you wont be able to move from spawn until you put in the password.
It's a bit more work, but using a plugin like this alongside a whitelist means you can pretty much have a pirate friendly server that can't be griefed by randoms constantly.

It's a great server, and even though it's not very populated, it's still been up for weeks.
I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon, but you ADD spastics just can't stay on one server for more than 2 hours.

There is another server with 1.8 and few to no mods. I forgot the address, but it's been up for at least a year now. It started as Pen Isle. Minecraft 1.9 is shit.
I really liked the fact that we were all on a relatively small island, we should have something like that again.

Hello. I want to be the one who makes a new server (provided some other anon isn't making one already and I would end up competing with his).
I'm thinking about setting it up right now and getting a few admins from this thread so it'll run even without my supervision. My idea is that it'll be MOSTLY vanilla (Bukkit) and non-whitelisted.
If plugins were to be added what would you guys be interested in?
What type of map would you guys like (Island/Infinitely Generated/etc)?
