Austin has been where I've wanted to live for the past 2-3 years, since I spent a summer working an awesome job there.
Then again I also feel like I'd enjoy the Pacific Northwest, though I've never been there, so I'd want to visit before making a decision. The traffic and cost of living in Austin are pretty big drawbacks.

I'm moving to Portland soon; got some great impressions from the city, but the hipster-SJW vibe is quite apparent. I was touring PSU and saw some shit go down at a Students for Trump meeting. There were tons of legit communists and black panthers. That, and Latino "Brown Beret" ethno-nationalists.

I went to the University of Washington, and lived in Seattle for 5 years. I wouldn't live there unless you are going to make more than $60k a year. If you work in tech, you'll likely fit in well there, as that kind has essentially ruined what once was a nice blue collar city.
