At the moment there is one town (port kek) with no government or leaders, a large population and basic housing, security and transport. Serveral other small houses and settlements exist elsewhere on the island.

I haven't played on your server yet, but your map looks like it was made in WorldPainter.
If it's a really small map and looks like it's been brushed like it does in the screenshots, you can use a 1024x1024 map I have.

No, the most recent attempt was intended to be island based warfare. It turned into each board fucking with each other until people quit, then the population got so low /mlp/ and /b/ heavily outnumbered everyone else and just took massive shits on every island.

That's not how civilization works.
If you were serious about this you'd try out Civcraft and see how long you last faced with the prospect of international diplomacy, economic competition, and the prospect of large-scale warfare against a variety of aggressors.
This is not to say you shouldn't have your server, but don't call it an experiment when there's no challenges to over come. Playing the game isn't in and of itself an achievement.

Economic competition being a "goal" does not mean it is implemented or possible in the context of the current setup. That statement also conflicts with the idea that this is an /r9k/ server. What competition is supposed to exist between users all from the same demographic? What competition can exist when said demographic gets a head start? What nations can exist on a server with 40 slots?
Just call it as it is, a casual server for /r9k/. Branding this as "nation building" is nothing if not insincere.

You have to understand, Minecraft without substantial modification is not capable of accurately modeling civilization as it does not have mechanism for risk. Even now you need to artificially prevent war as it could only serve to prove death in the game as meaningless. It's not that you fear anyone should die; it's that you fear that they shall realize the lack of repercussion by anyone other than the "hand of god" for their actions. You've created a scenario where there can be no authority beyond divine intervention; this is not civilization, and the model falls apart with even a minute of careful consideration.
Minecraft as a game needs an incredible amount of modification to make it "work" the way you'd like, and a part of that increasing scarcity and making combat risky while allowing for near complete self-governance of the gameplay. In the case of Civcraft, the slow nature of agriculture, scarcity of minerals, and the ability to detain others using PrisonPearl facilitates this.

I don't think your war between factions idea is very realistic without the possibility of griefing. Without the ability to destroy enemy structures, such as using TNT to destroy Kek's wall and buildings, raid the supplies of the failing town, etc., no war would have any kind of lasting consequences.
I settled on Mt. Boipussy because I figured it would be easier to set up siege weapons from the mountain such as TNT catapults if we were to go to war with Kek. Your idea of griefless war between factions isn't realistic, it doesn't allow for strategic positioning to have any meaning, and it lowers the quality of the server.
You should at least make the rule such that there can possibly be a clear winner in any given conflict. And make it so that winning means something.
Suggested rule: Griefing and theft is permitted during times of war between the parties involved.
Here is what I think of this server:
The server's a fucking circlejerk. I really don't like it. When I played on it, the server its self is just not that good imo. If it had some sort of protection plugin, you would never have to worry about grief and spam. When you have a vanilla server and expect for the "le ban when i see it" mentality to work, you're mistaken, especially when there's like 20-ish people on.
Your map looks like it was made by an autistic person, which it probably is. Also, if you're going to make societies, at least let people kill each other and raid each other. What kind of shit is this where you can't kill each other in a society experiment? Your experiment is nothing more than a shitty Minecraft server. The map is only 512x512, which is just stupid considering there's 25 people, and with a 512x512 map, when each and every person is evenly distributed, is 25 blocks inbetween everyone if there's 20 people on, which is just retarded, and that's not even considering there's offline players too.
It's /r9k/ for fuck's sake. You banning us is just us being banned from another part of society. "lel ur autistic" is just the truth, I am autistic.
