I'm a senior in high school and my favorite teacher is my AP Euro teacher. Literally talk politics throughout the entire class and we chill, tells me stories about his youth. I'm taking independent study however, and I noticed how he deals with the normal/remedial kids he gets: iron fist like Bismarck. He utilizes sarcasm and alpha-ness to get what he wants from his class, even though if you get to know him he's an introverted nerd. A couple of kids seep through and will pass the AP test or state test if they're remedial, but he lets the majority fail because it's their fucking life. Incorporating current events and activities is a good idea in getting the class involved, I remember in 8th grade my AP human geography teacher having us do the partitioning of Africa, which is perfect for inner city kids ;^).
