Which 4chan board feels the least like 4chan?

I would say /adv/.
>>
/cgl/ is full of women so it has a very different atmosphere. Much cattier but also ostentatiously supportive.

Havent been on /adv/ much
>>
/ck/ has many girlposters and house wives btw desu.
>>
>>28145717
/adv/ is far less caustic, it has a lot of leftist representation, and it isn't filled with such transparent vying for superiority (I don't see as many people calling each other retards there). It feels like it's filled with fairly normal people who haven't spent that much time on the rest of 4chan.

I haven't been there for very long at all though so this might be inaccurate.

OP asked for which board feels the less 4chan, not which board has the most wimmin
My list is
/wsg/
/r9k/
/news/
/s/, /hc/ and most non anime NSFW boards
/wg/
/r/
/b/ i guess
/v/ sometimes
>>
>>28145864
Most if 4chan is male dominated and when there are a lot of women a board feels different
>>
/tv/ feels like reddit, or 9gag, or one of those shitty memesites
>>
/trv/ I'd say. I dont see too much meme spouting there.

Blue boards that dont have anything to do with entertainment are usually cancer-free, or just little of it.
>>
>>28145864

>/r9k/
>/v/
>/b/

Are you memeing me, son?

Those three boards are the essence of what 4chan is like as a whole and has some of the worst cancer in the site.

This thread raises an interesting question.

What makes 4chan feel like 4chan?
>>
>>28146066
I agree 100%. Those boards are all 4chan to an unpalatable degree
>>
>>28146296
>What makes 4chan feel like 4chan?

4chan is known for its memes and ruthless way of posting.
/b/ would be the epitome of the 4chan essence, since all they do is talk in 4chan jargon (moar, cuck, normies, other buzzwords of the sort) while telling others to kill themselves and generally negative comments that would make a normal person feel unwelcome.

/r9k/, /tv/ and /v/ are pretty up there with this essence.

Boards that dont use that many buzzwords and dont treat others like shit are the ones that wouldn't feel like youre on 4chan. I'd say /an/ or /trv/ would be one of these boards.

Boards that have to do with entertainment (movies, anime, videogames, porn, etc) are the ones cancer hover towards the most. This is especially true with pink boards. They're all generally shit.
>>
>>28146557
>4chan is known for its memes and ruthless way of posting.
I agree with this, although I would add some other important aspects particular to 4chan. 4channers are all struggling to feel superior. This is why there are so many dumb arguments that descend into bickering, as each person is afraid of letting the other get the last word. Reply baiting is also much more common here than other websites. So is strawmanning, in part because of greentext. Also, conservatism is widespread enough on 4chan that being into identity politics also makes you seem out of place.

In general I agree with everything you wrote though. Boards feel the least like 4chan when they're filled with kind, supportive people having meaningful discussions, or when they're filled with faggots who would be flamed into silence on most of 4chan.
>>
>>28146780
>being into identity politics also makes you seem out of place.
Is that just on 4chan? I always get mad at people in real live for getting too hung up on titles.

For example, I was talking to my friend about Kasich and how he is the only candidate who would be able to actually do anything. And she said "yeah but he's a republican so i can't respect him" and other people around us agreed. Typically these are pretty sane people, but that title made them completely disregard what he actually said.
This happens pretty often too.

Is that normal?

One of the boards that feels the least like 4chan to me is /o/. It's my homeboard, and every time I come to /r9k/ or /pol/ or /v/ or anything it seems so different.
People on /o/ seem a lot more like real people to me. Maybe it's because they often post pictures of what they're talking about, or talk a lot about what they do in real life.
It's also a pretty slow board, with a pretty close knit community.
>>
>>28145958
Women are only on the lame basic boards
>>
>>28146862
>Is that normal?
That's very normal. A lot of people are incapable of respecting anybody with a different political affiliation. When I said identity politics I actually meant more specifically SJW stuff, but the term is fairly broad.
>>
>>28146954
What the fuck? Not exactly what you're talking about, but it always fucking baffles me that people get mad at me for saying something like "shit trump is actually talking sense now" or something like that.
It's like that episode of the boondocks where riley is talking to all the white people and they are clapping and everything and not actually caring what he's saying. People just hate trump and are unable to even hear what he says because all they can think is "oh he said some rude words I can't give anything else he says the slightest thought".
>>
>>28145629
/soc/ obviously

It's hilarious how many times you see people failing to link posts or writing like they're an Indian posting between shifts on their phone to hit on the "sexi bb". It's a board inundated with normalfags just using it for dating and orbiting.

I hate that board so fucking much.

>>28146296
The 4chan I loved has forever been changing and dying for years ever since reddit, facebook pages and other terrible places started leaking their communities onto here.

Each board has its own distinctive culture and it's very difficult to pinpoint what makes 4chan different to a community like reddit or anything else today. I want to say there's this feeling of quality through conformity like how when people says something stupid they're told it's stupid and they change to better themselves, the example I think of is how grammar was actually a big deal on 4chan which is what many probably wouldn't expect. There's also the vulgarness which you don't get in other places because people are too worried about besmudging their ego and identity (you stupid fucking tripfaggot) and this comes from anonymity.

Unfortunately, the majority of 4chan users today probably used reddit as their first forum ever and beyond the lack of political correctness there just isn't a significant difference between so many threads today and a thread on popular subreddits or funnyjunk. You can see /r9k/ changing in real time.

I think it's time to stop using 4chan in any significant frequency. Leave it to the new generation of posters and just do something else.

>>28146862
No. I pretty much grew up on 4chan and my social skills have developed from it. I basically act autistic on most issues and don't concede points like normalfags tend to even though I'm quite self aware. Most people are more arbiters than combative because that's how normal human interaction works. 4chan has ruined my ability to properly socially interact because I'm just too tired to bother with social norms.

I argue with my teachers about all kinds of shit. The best part though is that people always come up to me and congratulate me after class because I said what they were all thinking but were too afraid or lazy to say.

When did you start posting on 4chan? How old are you?
>>
>>28147445
started browsing in 2012 and could never browse any other forum other than Zoklet routinely, there will always be people like us and always be places made for us to go, whether it be here or another forum is the real question.

>whether it be here or another forum is the real question.
It kind of sucks that there is no one place where people "like us" can go without interference. I'm sad about what 4chan has become, and at first I was happy when people started leaving for altchans. Oct-chan seemed like it would be great, but you know what happened? It became too popular, and everything went to shit.
Now that it is dying, people are moving again, to even more obscure websites. A lot of people are going to websites like 76chan. What sucks though, is that every time a community moves it loses people. There are always people who dont want to use a new site for whatever reason, and choose to stay on the old place with the exact people they can't stand.

>>28147587
18 here, since 2010
>All other forums that had a /r9k/ like mindset are dead
There will always be IRC and other imageboards. I just wish that those places were more usable and had larger communities. It's not the quality that makes me keep coming to 4chan, it's the fact that I can have conversations with people that don't take hours between each post.
>>
It's probably /qa/, because that board is 95% reddit now
>>
i've brought this up before, but the answer is /x/. we basically have no board culture and no memes.
>>
>>28148593
/x/ has changed A LOT in the past few years. It used to be really good.
>>
>>28145717

/cgl/ is fully of weeby girls obsessing over a subject no one but them cares about. It may be female but it is the epitome of 4chan behaviour.

I'd say /diy/ is the least 4chan like board. The posters there all have jobs and enough money for tools and projects. They don't obsess over stupid shit and they usually have relationships.
>>
>>28148735
>>/cgl/ is fully of weeby girls obsessing over a subject no one but them cares about
Why does anybody like cosplay anyways?
>>
>>28145629
/adv/ is pretty much virgins asking how to get laid. Pretty channish
I think /x/ might be because it only has the noped meme.
>>
>>28145629
>/trv/
>/his/
>/qa/
>/n/?
>/cgl/
>>28145751
/ck/ also has a ton of shitposting and feels. Its as 4chan as it gets
>>
>>28149283
/adv/ is the same as /r/advice. Its a roastie dominated subreddit
>>
>>28148663
If anything, /x/ might be better now that the other places have gone to shit. They will tell you everything you need to know on how to summon a demon or hunt down a ghost, and give you the scoop on a conspiracy. Best board now IMO
>>
From what i've seen i'd say /out/ or /x/ (which have a good bit of overlap in terms of posters and content, think skinwalkers), because i've never seen a thread derailed on them before. Also, the woodsman vibe in general feels way more normalfag than channish.
>inb4 lurk moar
>>
>>28149434
No, it's just roleplaying and copypasta these days.
>>
>>28149568
You might have to delve into it a little more deeply now to find the good stuff, but there are people on /x/ with genuine knowledge of the occult. They also hate the government, and keep a watchful eye on things. It's a perfect board for the paranoid and insane, skeptic and believer alike. It may be the last bastion for creative thought in the forsaken wasteland that this place has become.
>>
>>28149954
You are schizophrenic. /x/ would be better if there weren't people like you stupid and insane enough to reply to people claiming to be a vampire.
>>
>>28150083
That's not what I'm talking about. I conversed with someone late there one night, a gentlemen who had studied the Lesser Key of Solomon and moreover discussed upon prompting how he had built a relationship with one of the lesser Goetic demons. Normally I would have dismissed such claims outright, but I verified that the sigil was authentic and he disclosed the ritual as well as the encounter in some detail.
Whether you believe in such things or not is irrelevant. If it is within your field of interest, /x/ can be well worth it.
>>
>>28145629
Old days /vp/ was pretty nice.
>>
>>28150802

>old days

Isn't /vp/ a relatively young board?
Or have I just been here too long?
>>
/vg/ , it's the only board I use that doesn't really feel like 4chan. The mods will randomly give 3 day global bans if you post something even slightly offtopic sometimes. 4chan's generally been pretty "everything goes" but I've been banned on there multiple sometimes for posting something that I'd never get banned for or any other board
>>
>>28148593

Arent succubi a meme there? And Slenderman, I think.
>>
>>28150802
/vp/ took a nosedive in quality after late 2014 due to ORAS and the wave of new posters during the the whole incident I won't name.
>>
>>28148593
So much of /x/ is stagnant skeleton posting.
>>
I think we can all agree there's been a nearly uniform drop in quality. So is there a board left that still seems fresh and original?
>>
>>28151836
[s4s] and /pol/ are both hidden gems
>>
>>28151836

/r9k/ is the only board I know of which more or less elicits the same kind of feeling of comfort in me as old /b/.
>>
>>28151959

>/pol/
>hidden

Can't comment on quality, since I only went there for a week or two before leaving, but I just went there now and it's mostly "degeneracy" and trump threads.

>[s4s]

/s4s/ has lost its way and sense of identity.
It's a shell of a board, not even good for recreational shitposting.
>>
>>28151962
I wouldn't mind seeing this board become more like the old /b/ in some ways, but we need time for things to mellow out. /r9k/ is under attack right now. By forces of change that are trying to push too far, too quickly in that direction. I think this thread exists mainly because people want another board to post on until all this vying for supremacy dies down a bit. Too bad there aren't many good options.
>>
I tried browsing /hc/ and it's almost nothing but old men posting pictures of their ugly wives sucking their little dicks.
>>
>>28152154

>/r9k/ is under attack right now.

What do you mean, exactly?
>>
>>28152505
It's complicated. I don't have time to go into it again just now. Sorry.
I do believe things will improve, but there's a storm brewing at present. Until it calms down, you may want to consider visiting one of the other boards being discussed here.
