I quit drinking after my 3rd visit to the emergency department in the last 6 months.

I'm on day 4 now and I'm BORED AS SHIT. What the fuck do people do if they're not drunk?
>>
Hang in there. I just got back from the store with liquid breakfast myself. Maybe one day I'll be more productive like you and quit
>>
Go to the meetings, find a home group, ask for help, work steps, help others OR drink again.

We all carry a message. Some carry one of hope, others one of caution. You choose.

>9months sober
>>
Also, may I suggest Civilization 5? It's a great time waster
>>
Smoke weed famalam
>>
>>28142834
just moderate your drinking. get yourself a breathalyzer and don't go too far above the legal limit for drinking. control the drink, don't let it control you
>>
>>28142834
>What the fuck do people do if they're not drunk?

>think about alcohol
>go to the store to buy alcohol
>drink alcohol until you get drunk
>>
>>28142834
Why were you in the emergency dept?

I had to quit drugs and smoking due to some health and mental problems and started drinking because being sober is awful for me. Now i feel like i am an alcoholic, even though i only drink like 2-3 beers or 2-3 glasses of wine max. However i feel like shit, i have this bigass beer gut, constantly diarrhea or constipation, fatigue and each time i tell myself i won't drink tonight i end up drinking something, even if it is one beer. I think i might have a problem.
>>
>>28142924
forgot to mention that i used to be very lightweight before quitting smoking, i was basically drunk after two beers if i drank them fast
>>
>>28142924
I binged for about 3 weeks straight and my heart was beating at about 190bpm.

Drank about 6 1.75Ls of vodka over the course of 3 weeks
>>
>>28142945
this doesn't seem like a lot over the course of 3 weeks?
>>
>>28143113
It was 11 drinks a day every day without stopping

I'd drink a couple, pass out for a few hours, repeat
>>
>>28143159
oh well that sounds a lot, i would probably die if i do that
>>
>>28143159
You are full blown alcoholic. How old are you? Why did it get to this? What's your social life?
>>
>>28143225
25. I don't know, I was bored. None. Right now I'm just sitting around watching TV

Only started drinking when I was 22
>>
>>28142945
I used to drink a handle of rum and a case of beer every two days faggots. Still drink, but much less frequently and no where near those amounts.
>>
>>28142945
When I stopped with GHB I drank 3 bottles of whiskey and ate 25 pills of oxazepam over 3 days just to cope with the withdrawal of GHB. Have been drinking 4-5 liters of beer every day ever since and I'm not even drunk. This is just enough to fall asleep. I got a 100 mcg fentanyl patch and I want to try and stop drinking but still be able to function. Wish me luck.
>>
>>28143265
>I was bored

Nah, think deeper. Something happened there. I am a long time drinker but never got to the point of binging on vodka.
>>
>>28143278
Fent is one of the most fiendy opioids there is. I mean maybe less so if you actually wear the patch or gum it, but I think most people smoke it, and that gets really fiendy really fast.
>>
>>28142924
Is the beer belly and stuff related to your diet, what's your diet like?
>>
>>28143159
Fuck I've done this before but for like 6 months in a row if not longer and I'm only in my early 20s
>>
>>28143347
Every beer is like 400 calories, so drinking 10 of them is like adding a pound of fat. His diet is basically irrelevent when he's consuming that many extra calories.
>>
>>28142834
Play video games, eat, watch tv/anime (if you're a weeb, not judging), learn a skill, socialise, do work, look for work, sleep, think - there's plenty to do
>>
>>28143292
Not the original person but I did something similar, I quit weed and I had some family members die and I got into a relationship where they yelled, lied, abused me and so on and I just drunk through the bullshit and stuck around and it's the biggest mistake I've ever made I should have stayed single I ruined my life and health forever plshelp
>>
>>28143382
Alcohol is demonic
>>
>>28143278
I don't understand how people can keep drinking this much. I understand getting drunk, but this shit is way beyond. No matter how sad I was in my life, getting this wasted only made me feel more miserable and physically ill.
>>
>>28143341
That's what I want to avoid. Hopefully this can numb the withdrawal of alcohol without creating a new addiction. I've read that the worst withdrawal effects from alcohol is over after a couple of days to a week. Of course that depends on the amount of alcohol you drink and how long you have been drinking. I need to start doing something other than computer to avoid temptations.
>>
It will probably take some time, the problem is that you dont remember how it is to have fun without drinking. That's your problem.
>>
>>28142834
Read stuff online

Go on chans

Go for a walk

Cook a nice meal to eat

Play with a pet

Take up a creative hobby

Look into a course to take or something to learn

Go visit a friend kek

Try a different, less harmful drug like Salvia which helps with addiction apparently

I'm Lorde yayaya
>>
>>28143434
Seriously, don't start using opioids to try to not create a new addiction, that's literally one of the worst ideas I've heard.

Just detox medically. They have procedures for this kind of thing. Get some Librium and taper off with that. If you actually want to quit I mean.
>>
>>28143347
Well i have no idea if it's related or not, but i have fat mostly on my face, gut, ass and thighs. I used to be rail thin but i had a spontaneous pneumothorax twice and after the second time i decided to quit drugs and ciggs, and i had to stay at home for it to get healed. This lead to me starting a life where i just sit on my ass all day in front of pc and sometimes go to uni.

My diet for like 3-4 years was some kind of carbs plus diary and maybe some sort of sandwich meat for breakfast, nothing too big. Then i would drink coffee or tea and maybe eat some fruit or a soup, or skip lunch entirely because sometimes i am not hungry. Then at dinner some lean meat or fish with some vegetables i guess, or pasta.

Nowdays i eat more potatoes and meat mostly, because i have to cook for myself and i am a really shitty cook. I tried teaching myself but i seem to fuck up most things.

>>28143382
Wait, i thought beer had way less calories? I usually drank 2 or 3 beers each night, 500ml, about 5% ones.
>>
>>28143420
It was because of the withdrawal from GHB. GHB and alcohol have similar effect. The main difference is the half-life of GHB it's only 1.5-3 hours in the beginning. I had to dose 2-4 times at night or else withdrawal was knocking on the door. I haven't felt so bad before. My tolerance for downers that effect the GABA receptors in through the roof so I need to drink a lot to get some kind of buzz. But I you are totally correct.
>getting this wasted only made me feel more miserable and physically ill.
>>
>>28143471
You're right it is pretty retarded but thanks for the info.
>>
>>28143520
I met someone in the psych ward who started heroin to try to quit coke and turned into a full blown junkie. That could be where you're headed.

And I mean I do opioids (I fucking love them), so I can't really tell you not to do it, but just be aware of what you're getting into.
>>
>>28143450
I don't even remember what I used to do before drinking.

Movies, TV shows, and music don't even entertain me anymore unless I'm drunk
>>
>>28143400
Why didn't you put your foot down the first time she yelled at you? How did she abuse you otherwise?
>>
>>28143485
I'm glad I barely remember my benzodiazepine withdrawal, because it was pretty severe, my memory was just so fucked by that point that it's sort of just a blank space, and the seizures fucked my memory even more. I was too fucked up for various reasons to recall the worst of it at all.
>>
>>28142834
quit drinking for a month since going to the looney bin they tell me I shouldn't drink but I want to when it warms up I'm gonna walk to town and get a few bottles
>>
>>28143382
Alcoholic calories are not converted to fat genius. There is not metabolism for converting ethanol to fat in the human body. Just because it burns hot in a calorimeter doesn't mean your body can use that energy. For example how many calories are in a sheet of paper? A lot. Eat the paper. How many calories can your body use? Zero, you just poop it out. Same deal with ethanol
>>
>>28143552
Beta alcoholic. Like breaking my stuff, kicking me, most of it was emotional though. I still see her sometimes, I almost started dating someone else and after she ignored me for 3 months straight she came back and caught wiff of me having a chance with a normal human and ensnared me again. Pls halp me. :( I'm too balless to leave, to miserable to go on. It's like accepting my fate as the scum of the earth.
>>
>>28143574
I'm with you on that, more or less.
>go to the psych ward
>sober up from everything
>get out
>do outpatient therapy for a while
>still want to get high
>quit outpatient
>other psychiatrist and therapist still haven't contacted me back
>about to buy a bunch of heroin

Life's funny.
>>
>>28143583
If I drink vodka instead of beer will I be healthier/thinner? Does beer just make us gain weight because of the malty carbs?
>>
>>28143546
as I said, it will take some time, the best way is to get busy with something. Whatever it is, just get busy. If you dont have a job start working out, build something with your hands. Sooner or later things will seem better, things will make more sense again.
>>
>not smoking weed everyday to numb the feels while occassionally getting drunk
Comon its the best way
>>
>>28143561
The worst withdrawals I ever had was off anti psychotics. Or stims. How's your memory now? How long has it been?
>>
>>28143629
>healthier
Debatable really. Vodka has 97 calories per standard drink, meanwhile beer usually is around 150.

The thing is is that beer is mostly water, so at least you're staying somewhat hydrated.

Gaining weight is simply calories. Per standard drink, vodka is more efficient calorie-wise
>>
>>28143225
What if you drink until you vomit every 2-3 days?
Go a week without alcohol then drink for 3 days straight?

Are you an alcoholic then?
>>
>>28143636

How the fuck can you still smoke weed without having to mentally berate yourself? Especially as a /r9k/ user??
>>
>>28143629
Theoretically beer has some sugars in it which aren't metabolised by yeast which makes it taste sweet (depending on the beer). Vodka has absolutely zero sugar in it. If you want to play it safe with carbs drink vodka although honestly there is no more absorbable sugar in most beer than there is in tea. The hops do mimic esteogen however so robots beware hoppy beers
>>
>>28143542
The fentanyl patch is 100 mcg pr. hour and last 72 hours. I really hope it's enough time for my brain to recover from alcohol without craving opioids when I'm done. It's pretty risky but I hope it works. I know I should seek professional help but damn I don't want to. I hope some lifting can take my mind of the withdrawal. People who have tried fentanyl patches haven't reported any withdrawal after as long as they didn't have a addiction before.

>>28143561
What benzo did you abusee? Glad to hear you recovered.
>>
>>28143661
It's been like a month since I went to the psych ward, and they gave me a Librium taper that ended a couple weeks ago. They put me on antipsychotics, and I weaned off those, though it was less of a weaning than it should've been because I took more than I should've to help me sleep at night.

My memory seems okay, though March is basically just a haze. The antipsychotics fucked with my memory a lot in the beginning.
>>
>>28143583
Jesus, you're retarded.
>>
>>28143665
No no no no no
God you're spastic
Imbecile government nutirionalists make a couple of caloric measurements and you're all over it like landwhales on cake

ETHANOL IS NOT SUGAR

Holy shit.

Are you black?
>>
>>28143724
>ETHANOL IS NOT SUGAR

Ethanol is still 7 calories per gram.
>>
>>28143690
Both of those responses are for me. Good luck with the patch, but I still see this ending badly.

At the time I was abusing etizolam and flubromazolam, though I've done a lot of other ones. I wouldn't say I've recovered, I'm just not currently on them.
>>
You've got to find another way to distract yourself, but I'm just going to warn you now: for the next month, you're going to be switching back and forth between wishing you were dead and wishing everyone else were dead even more than usual.

t. 3 months sober guy
>>
>>28142834
If you've reached the 3 day mark, your cravings to drink are unlikely to get any worse over the next 2 weeks. Once you get through 2 weeks you should be in the clear.
The boredom is something you'll have to figure out on your own.
>>
>>28143847
>in the clear
That's not how addiction works.
>>
>>28143767
Ah yes, etizolam. I remember when the RC market got them. Fun times. I haven't had enough time to abuse them but they are on the top 3 of benzos. 1. Diazepam - 2. oxazepam - 3. etizolam. Because benzos have such a downer effect I haven't got the time to abuse them because of education or job. GHB was so easy to abuse because of the effect. It's kind of stimulating and relaxing at the same time. I was king of the world when I took GHB. Alcohol is a bit harder because you can't abuse it when working (You can but people can smell you a mile away) but when you get home it's easy because you only need to go down to the liquor store and you're done. Opiates is love but I zone the fuck out. Uppers is only fun when you hit the town.
>>
>>28143225
>>28143669
>a chronic disorder marked by excessive and usually compulsive drinking of alcohol leading to psychological and physical dependence or addiction

i drank about ten drinks give or take every day for two years and was stll able to quit and get to a healthy place with my drinking. you can quit. you're not an alcoholic, you just have impulse control ssues
>>
>>28143764
Holy fuck how retarded are you people

Gasoline is 10,000 calories per gram
Sugar is 4 calories per gram

Do you actually think you will gain 2500 times as much weight by eating/drinking a gram of gasoline as you would by eating a gram of sugar

Ethanol is not a carbohydrate or sugar it is an alcohol. It is metabolised in a different way. The colorimetric ratings for it are complete nonsense in the frame of nutrition.

Ethanol is metabolised into acetate which is used preferentially as an energy source by the body but it is not converted to fat. You pee it out.
>>
>>28143903
Flubromazolam is the best benzo in my opinion. And I wouldn't recommend taking it to anyone who doesn't have an actual death wish.

I've had some decent times with uppers, but I only like them if I'm in an okay mood to start with. It's nice to talk to people you like on them, even if it's online.
>>
>>28143628
the outpatient therapy is stupid I told them talking isn't gonna help me nothing will.
>>
>>28143887
except it is. once you stay away from it long enough the cravings will subside. if you go back to immediately drinking your original amount, that's all you convincing yourself that you need it when you really dont (your tolerance should be down at this point so there's no need to drnk gallons of vodka)and you should see a therapist in that case.
>>
>>28143921
>you can quit, you're not an alcoholic
That's what every alcoholic thinks, which also helps justify the addiction.

>you just have impulse control ssues
That's what being an alcoholic is. How stupid are you?
>>
>>28143951
Then why do I still want to do opiates with every essence of my being even though I've been sober over a month?
>>28143939
The program I was in was especially shitty. Fuck DBT and ACT.
>>
>>28142834
6 in 3 months i'd continue drinking if i were you
noone likes those boring 4 hour breaks called a&e visits
>>
>>28143958
I think he's referring to physical and psychological addiction.

I would find it difficult to quit drinking right now. I don't think I'd have any physical symptoms but I'd crave badly.
