I've been here for ten years as of this summer, and I would generally agree with this. /r9k/ has an amusing culture, and does produce a lot of the website's identity, for better or for worse.
imo /v/ and /tv/ are the worst boards, specifically because they attract a high volume of young(14-20) people without intentionally being containment boards. Younger people just drag down the quality of any board. You see a board like /m/ or /out/ which has an average user age of around 24-25, or /tg/ or /lit/ closer to 22, and you can see how much of a difference not having loads of children around makes.
/pol/ is kindof an unfortunate place. Not because of it's general homogenized political views which I don't really care about, but just because of all of the anger and whining behind it all. Bad community.
