ok well I can give you my opinion, do with it what you will. bear in mind that i don't claim to be an expert on women (obv, i'm on r9k) but i'm not a kv either.
it seems pretty unlikely to me that she's pulling some kind of prank. if she had a history of doing bitchy things like this or if you're regularly getting bullied/pranked by chads then it would make sense, but to just do this out of the blue? doesn't really seem likely.
having said that, it doesn't mean that nothing can go wrong. if she's a bimbo there's every chance she'll change her mind or get asked by some normie and decide to bail on you. if you're interested in following it up, i'd recommend finding her alone and saying something like "hey if we're going to prom together, can I get your number so we can discuss plans/times etc?" you can probably judge from her response to this if she's sincere about going with you.

Not him but it has to be a trap. I'm not sure how petty people are, I haven't interacted with a lot, but this seems like a setup. Ask her what the plan is, will there be pickup? Is she going to get a driver? Where will you be dropped off? Is she inviting you somewhere other than the prom area? Look for signs anon, be safe.
