I know the intention is not to hurt the person's feelings, but it does anyway. It doesn't work out the way you would think it would. Nobody gets out unscathed.

Also I think a person who does that might just be secretly trying to avoid the responsibility of rejecting whoever they are rejecting. Which is neither here nor there, truly having that responsibility inflicted on you when you're just minding your own business is a shit situation.

I guess it sucks no matter what you do. Honesty generally trumps dishonesty, though.
