>Assume every customer is a barely functional retard

Retail general

>I've been a customer at this store for years!
>I deserve this item for free!
>>
>>28091746
Fuck I hate this. Had one guy claim he'd been comin for over 10 years. Store had only been open 7 and I'd been there for 5 of them. Had never once seen him.
>>
Is there a job for the unskilled that isn't as soul sucking as retail or as physically demanding as basic trades/construction?
>>
>>28092074
Do you think it depends on how soul sucking it is being directly related to how much time you spend with your boss (if he/she sucks)?
>>
>>28092587
Personally no, I rarely see my boss. Customers and having to feign happiness and being polite is what I find draining.
>>
>ask customer to obey rules
>customer goes out of their way to disobey rules

I don't even get angry anymore. Just disappointed.
>>
How do you deal with people treating you either like you aren't even a real personnel or like you don't know the inner workings and policies of your own store?

How often do you have to deal with people trying to get free shit?
>>
>>28092074
warehouse work.
literally just walk around all day moving boxes here or there and shipping orders, all while listening to music. comfiest job in existence.
>>
>>28092074
If I had to get a wagecuck job it would be driving something or operating machinery but you need to be skilled for that right?
>>
>>28092759

>How do you deal with people treating you either like you aren't even a real personnel or like you don't know the inner workings and policies of your own store?
I work next to a big public service building, so pretty often. I didn't think it meme'd like this, but it do.

>
How often do you have to deal with people trying to get free shit?
You're giving them too much credit, they stopped trying ages ago. I caught some faggot today that said with a straight face 'I didn't pay for it because I didn't want to'.
>>
>>28092781
How long until that is completely automated?
>>
>Work at a restaurant
>Counter has oil candle on it
>Retards constantly stick their nose in this scentless flame and then withdraw in shock as they discover that FIRE HOT!
>One guy stands in front of the candle
>Burns his fucking shirt off
>Asks for a refund because of this

Other story
>Someone asks a third party to buy takeaway food in "red sauce"
>restaurant has a shit tonne of red sauce foods
>have to guess
>30 mins later guy who sent innocent retard to buy the food storms in
>I ASKED FOR RED SAAAUUUUCCEEEE
>mad beyond belief, jumping up and down, smashing fists into counter, looks like the guy has legit anger issues
>I ask him to calm down and describe what he means by "red" sauce
>figure out that he wanted sweet and sour
>offer to switch the food since I'm a nice guy
>screams "NOOOOOOOOoooo" as he literally runs out of the restaurant
>>
>>28091545

Customer here.

What can I do to improve a retail worker's day?
>>
I really didn't mind retail.
In fact I liked it.
I worked in a grocery store and sure you'd sometimes get a weird customer or a bitch, but they added variety to my life. And getting to know the regulars almost gave me a sense of community.
The predictable jokes didn't get old for me, I appreciated people trying to be nice or make conversation.
>>
>>28092820

ahahahahah I'm the complete opposite. I actually like interacting with people and doing work related shit at my own pace. It's just when my boss comes in he stresses everybody out and since I'm the newest person he takes it out all on me and shows me no respect. I just take it like a bitch though, can't be bothered to talk back.
>>
>>28092806
depends what kind of warehouse.
Amazon and misc distribution warehouses? Probably pretty soon.
But there are a vast multitude of goods that would be very costly to automate.
Especially if your warehouse does orders direct to sellers, instead of just distribution to retail stores like a walmart distribution center. Picking and packing is very difficult to automate.
>>
>>28092820
No small talk
Just buy the product and walk away
Don't even talk to me
>>
Man I can't stand customers trying to make small talk. I always try and talk back in a fun way and make an ass of myself

>Stocking the eggs
>Old Customer comes and sees me struggling to move a heavy carton with many eggs
>Laughs and says 'you lay them yourselves son?'
>realise he is making a joke, and that I should reciprocate
>'I-I can't lay THAT many eggs, I am not a centipede!'
>he doesn't laugh at me, so I decide to make a punchline
>'I'm a MILLIPEDE!'
>pretend to be a millipede and mime my hands in the air really quickly like I have 100 hands
>he doesn't laugh
>I go back to work and ignore him

Also I fucking hate secret customers. I have failed them before and will get fired if it happens again
>>
>>28092806
Yeah, automation is on my mind. I work in the warehouse for a courier company, driving forklifts and so forth. 3d printing, drones, and driver less vehicles are going to shake this industry to it's core. I think I may last longer than the couriers and truck drivers, but who knows? Hopefully automation will lead to a post scarcity society and I'll never have to work again.

Retail gestapo.
>>
>>28093066
oh shit I had that in my store too.

They were basically people who rated how well each station did like did the cashier greet you/ask for your rewards card, or did this department of the store's employees come to you and ask you if you need any help.
>>
>>28093066
Someone from the store buys something and rates your customer service skills. in our store nobody cares if you pass or fail it's just a tick box thing
>>
>>28093066
people who are "paid" or compensated by your parent company through a contractor to go in and rate their customer experience.

So if you're a bitch to the wrong person or fail to uphold the corporate standards you fail your shop and get in trouble.
Most people are cool about it and just give you 5/5s but every now and then you get that fucking busybody who has nothing at all to do with her time and picks apart your fucking routine like you're a fucking guard of the tomb of the unknown soldier.
>>
>>28093066
People that get paid to shop at stores and judge them via reviews. They rate worker interactions too, so they'll call you out in the report for not smiling and greeting them as they walk past you when you're trying to get your job done. Stupid shit like that.

I stock shelves in a supermarket on Graveyard shift. Not a bad job in itself:being paid to exercise, enough solitude once you get your assignment for the night for indulging in audiobooks. And having days free means you can enjoy the daylight while 9 to 5ers are trapped, matinee theatres with noone to annoy you,and avoiding the idiot management and their scarey big bosses. You'll have to sleep through jackhammers, and you can't find a steak dinner at 8AM when you want one,but the worst part are the Night Shoppers.

You get mobs of teenage punks who ride around in the cripple carts like it was their own personal toy,and if they actually BUY anything its a miracle. You get the bums and crazies camping out where the coffeeshop is,sprawled on the table with their cartful of belongings, muttering and stinking. You get the shoplifters, regulars that smile at you as they rip you off, because it costs the company too much to prosecute them, and God forbid they get their "rights" violated if you dare chase them out. You see the carelessness of people who let frozen stuff rot on the shelves, things opened and half eaten, the biggest boxes of diapers torn to get a change for some mutants lil WIC welfare spawn, and sometimes the Dirty diaper is thrown on the shelf next to it.

I leave work fantasizing about putting tiny signs on the front doors declaring Martial Law upon entering, and bringing a much needed beating to these lovely folk. But the Security team is more interested in watching the workers, since firing US frees the company from paying benefits and pensions, while stealing is written off as a tax cut for loss.

Oh well...I can dream
K
>>
>>28093302
I am not a warehouse worker anymore.
I also don't think it's important. Just difficult and not cost effective to automate. With little shit like smaller amazon orders maybe. But with bigger difficult packages and good it requires a human touch.

I'm a fulltime overnight stocker at a 24 hour walmart. Havent had nearly this terrible of experience, and the store is literally a fence away from the town "projects".

Then again I've seen a support manager call the cops on a homeless man for washing himself in our washroom. So many people know they dont tolerate shit.

Funny story is that 2 years ago, before I worked here, I was immediately escorted out of the store because I was wasted at 3 am chatting with a fat girl. Im almost positive we were actually having a conversation and it wasnt my shitface self creeping on her. But I think the manager caught on that I was wasting her time instead of stocking.

So yeah, maybe your stores management are liberals or something.

Look, yeah there's retarded customers of course, that's because everyone goes to the store to buy groceries, clothes, etc. So of course you're going to get retards, but also college students, businessmen, etc etc.
I hope you're aware that everyone with a real job looks down on you. I know I do. More so if it's a male cashier. Female cashiers are normal because women don't care about getting good jobs.

Doctor here. I used to be a cashier at Wal-Mart. I don't look down upon retail or Customer Service jobs at all. I pity them and empathize with them. They are smarter than you think, but they are having their souls sucked out of them for a thankless job at $9.00/hour. They have to put up with entitled and arrogant folks such as yourself, perform tasks that don't even fit their job description, and believe it or not, be aware of any shoplifters or receipt shoppers that try to steal or take advantage of the store. They have to keep an eye on counterfeit bills and checks. But nothing takes the cake from a whiny customer who thinks they know how to do their job better than them.

Apparently the manager asked all my coworkers if they wanted to do it, and when they all said no, she put me back there without asking )^:
>>
>>28094587
meh, let them bitch at you, you still control when they get their meat. Underestimate at first. it's easier to add weight than it is to take it away.
Also don't cut your hand off with the slicer thing.
Usually there's at least 2 people back there though? One stocking the packaged meats and one working the counter. If that's how your store works try to be the one stocking the packaged meats.
>>
>>28092859

I think it depends where in retail you work. I worked at a convenience store for a while, and it was a lot of fun. People were typically really friendly and social. A few even invited me to hang out with them (they'd never follow through if I texted them, but the invitation was nice at least). Then I worked at a grocery store and it was fucking miserable. Everyone's tired, angry, mean, and so demanding they'll start screaming over not getting a 10 cent discount.

For a pound of ground beef, I just grab a handful and see what it weighs, then take or add some depending on how close it is. Customers usually aren't picky and as long as it's close to a pound they'll give it the OK, so you won't have to be exact. There will probably be someone else in the meat dept who can give you a quick rundown of the basics, I doubt they would just toss you on untrained. Though it wouldn't surprise me.

The thing that annoys me most is when people ask where shit is

Like people walk through the door and immediately start asking where shit is

WHY DON'T YOU FUCKING USE YOUR EYES YOU PIECE OF SHIT THEIRS SIGNS EVERYWHERE.

Worst part is the item they're looking for is usually clearly on a sign like 5 feet away.

One time the store was being remodeled and our bread moved to isle 6. We posted a sign right at the entrance saying it's moved to isle 6. Still had people asking for the bread and commenting how it's bullshit and that they can't find anything during the remodel.
>>

Why not? Wageslaves cant do shit about it. They are used to being shat on and asking for more shit with a smile.

Man an express lane near the front door for 8 hours and tell me how skill-less they are having to micromanage the till, bagging, and all the idiots who try to squeak by with more than x number of items.

by the way, I'm in the tech industry, but worked retail while in college. It's the most excruciating shit ever, if only for the fact you're not allowed to catch a break. You have to clean your own conveyer belt so it doesn't end up a trichinosis melt-down. You have to be cordial or suffer reprimands from the floor managers. You have to be accurate with your transactions.

Honestly, the only reason the tech industry is "skilled labor" is because it requires a lot of abstract memorization and understanding logical concepts. Retail is more difficult, in my experience.

woah woah woah WHAT

Cashiers don't actually sit down over in the US? I'd actually be amazed if this is true. It seems pretty weird that they'd rather risk lawsuits over back injuries than just dish out $30 for a chair that'll last probably a good 7 years (i've seen some of the chairs in retail stores in my country, and they're pretty busted up, at least 4 years old). Of course most people won't have the money to sue the big corporations, but what about unions and labor departments? Surely they'll fix something up if they get enough complaints?

>>
>>28096107
Wow, that's great. Guess what, I also worked skill-less customer service jobs during college.

Yeah, it can be stressful, but that doesn't make it skilled work. Any monkey off the street can "man an express lane near the front of the door." It's only skilled when the average person off the street can't do your job.

And I have nothing against cashiers, stockers, or any other unskilled workers. But what I do have a problem with is when they think that they are so above having to have small talk with the customer or when they feel bothered having to explain something to the customer. It's literally their job.

one of my best friends worked at a burger king for a good 2 years. They quite literally have a clock that starts counting as soon as they order. Whenever we hung out and wanted to grab some food in the drive-through in the evening (where there's very few customers and very little food prepared), he'd tell me to park a little further up, since it'd stop their timer from counting down the time it'd take.

The basic gist is that they'd like to reduce the general time it takes to service a customer, both to reduce wait time, but also to increase customer satisfaction with their wait time. It might be stupid as fuck if they can't do anything about it, but that's retail for you.

I've scored some top gear gaming rigs for like $50 cause the person would rather buy a whole new thing than diagnose a $50 repair.

>>28096313
You're right. 1/3 of the store has its own section. Small animals, cat food, and toys. Literally the rest of it is dog food. The dog food section is so large that when you walk into ANY Petsmart store, you are staring it in the face.

>>
>>28096085
It takes YOU two seconds because you have a familiarity with the store. Admittedly it's not hard to find dog food if you actually try looking, I accept and know firsthand that most people don't, but it doesn't absolve the facts that: a) when you're in an unfamiliar place it's very easy for any specific thing to blend into the backdrop, or as it may metaphorically be called, "hiding in plain sight"; and b) customer service is part of the fucking job. It's not that hard for one to swallow their ego and just point the person in the right direction, and do so without being smarmy young punk about it.

Speaking from experience, it's far easier to just leave your pride at the door and do the job correctly once you actually get over the mental hurdle of actually DOING it.

There was a crowbar that I was suppose to use to bring out 4 or 5 boxes of milk towards the area but everytime I used that it just made me spill milk all over the floor and my manager looked at me like a dumb fuck.

And the gloves were always fucking missing because the baggers would use them to grab ice and never put them back in place so always without fucking gloves.

It sucked and I'm glad I'm not there anymore. But now my back is all fucked up cause I'm an idiot who tried to work hard.

This. I'm the person who works at Petsmart. These people find it difficult to comprehend that someone who doesn't work there is able to find pet food on their own. Not even a specific type of food, just "dog food".

I honestly feel bad for them if they are this dysfunctional walking into every store. In fact, I'm going to help every person looking for "hurr durr dog food" because I'm going to assume they have literal mental handicaps.

I work at local soda factory/brewery.
I take care of the packing line where cans come to be packed. Most I do is keeping conveyor belts topped with cardboard bases for trays and packs, glu machine topped up and other part of the machine topped up with wrapping plastic
Then there's of course clearing up malfunctions and such which luckily are easy and safe to take care off since machine automatically shuts down when it detects a problem. Stuff like soda can fell down, wrong number of cans per package, machine skipped picking up cardboard base etc.
Then I get to cruise around on motorized pallet jacks to get stuff which is fun. Hardest thing so far has been learning starting and ending a new run for different product alone since there's lot to do - get specific packaging materials, set the machine up for new package if needed, set the conveyor belts before and after the machine, that rails are open/high enough/wide enough.

Can be bit exhausting since there's three shifts. First you do one five-day week of night shift from 10pm to 6am, then week of evening shift from 2pm to 10pm and then one week of morning shift from 6am to 2pm and then you start all over.

You do realize that some products are in the back of the store, right? If it's not dog food, it's cat food. Or pet toys. Or rodent items. Or whatever the fuck.

So when I come in to a new store, don't see the product at the front, it makes sense to ask an front-end employee (who I'd assume knows where shit is) where product X is, so I can just go get the product instead of wasting time and searching the store.

>a few examples I have seen
>Customer asks for dog food, so he pretends to walk his dog across the fucking store on a leash while leading them
>Stops if he sees me and pretends to pick me up while saying 'he poops everywhere'
>customer always laughs
>customer asks for M&M's
>He takes them to the CD's (because Eminem HAHAH) then apologises and runs to get M&M's for them
>customer asks for baking equipment
>he runs with them to the in store bakery and has a playfight with the baker then comes out acting hurt and says 'he isn't giving it up' and takes them to the actual section with that stuff

Because it isn't.

Many stores don't have a huge sign in front saying where everything is. At best, each individual asile has a sign saying what's in it, but you walk to each individual item.

Instead, I can find a front-end employee, ask which asile has product X and just walk to that asile after our quick conversation.

Why is it so hard for you retail workers to do your jobs? Especially a part of your job that requires at most 5 seconds.

>If only there were something that let's you know where to that is. Oh, there's a sign that says "Pet supplies"
How the fuck are people supposed to know that "pet supplies" means dog food? For all they know, in the language of this store, "pet supplies" means toys and other nonperishables, and there's a separate aisle for "pet food" at the end of the store where the sign is obscured by some aquarium display. And the dog food has enough variety that it's not in "pet food", it's in a separate "dog food" aisle that runs widthwise along the back of the store. It's not the customer's job to immediately grasp every stupid bullshit nuance of your store's stupid bullshit signage; it is your job to do so.

Managers are pretty chill and don't seem to care since I'm out there very rarely.

Don't listen to the others.
I like it when customers engage in small talk.
What I don't like is when customers pretend they know more about the machines I use and store policy than me. Always trust what the cashier is doing. If I say this is what happened this is what happened.
>>
>>28097984

Nice strawman. I just want to get my daily tasks done because I get a bonus if I get them done consistently. Hard to do when I have to help retards do their shopping.

It's not the customers' fault that you can't get your job done.

>In before mental gymnastics of "b-b-but it is!"

Serving the customer is literally part of your job.
>>
>>28097588
>Many stores don't have a huge sign in front saying where everything is.
Every Petsmart store has signs pointing to where the dog food is. It's store protocol.

Keep making excuses, it's fun proving how subhuman you are.
>>
>>28098149
>Serving the customer is literally part of your job.

A part of my job that gets easier and less time consuming when they actually decide to think for themselves.
>>
>>28098026
>sign says "bedding"
>nope, no comforters there, better ask an employee
>"yeah the comforters are actually at the end of the bath aisle"
Is this literally your first retail job? No, scratch that - is this literally the first big store you've walked into in your life? What kind of sheltered life or stupid luck do you have to have to assume signs are even remotely accurate, and dismiss as retarded any customer who dares to doubt it?

>>28098191
>Every Petsmart store has signs pointing to where the dog food is. It's store protocol.
as if i fucking care about your one fucking franchise's "store protocol"
>>
>>28098145
>Every store is like my Petsmart store.
But no, most stores you have to walk to each individual asile to see the sign of what's down there. So it IS faster to ask a front-end employee. Of course some stores may be an outlier to that.

>>28098137
Capability /=/ efficiency.

Most people have SO, kids, real jobs, pets and tons of other responsibilities to attend to, so saving a minute or two in each store adds up. I understand that single 20 year old kids who work retail wouldn't understand that, though.
>>
>>28098217

Please tell me what fucking store stocks comforters in the god damn bath aisle. If you're going to lie at least make it a good one.

I'm not talking just specifically about Petsmart, dipshit.

It's a general statement about all retail stores.

>>
>>28097712

Can't speak for others but in my store it's okay to fold the clothes, long as it looks presentable. For example if our bitchy manager walks across and aisle and sees things not folded and thrown around compared to folded (even if randomly) it's better than nothing. Some stores are quite anal aboot it no doubt.

I've got this one customer who works as a night shift security guard, and he's the nicest dude I've met in my life. Apologizes for everything even when not needed, but I'd go out of my way to help him out if he requires it.

Basically just be nice and try not to small chat cashiers unless they do it first.

>But no, most stores you have to walk to each individual asile to see the sign of what's down there.

Think about it like this:
>thing you want is on aisle 10
>ask employee where thing is
>they say aisle 10
>you have to walk to aisle 10 to get thing

OR
>thing you need is on aisle 10
>start walking down the store
>assuming you have decent vision or corrective lenses you can see past the aisle you're currently on
>you'll see the item you want is on aisle 10

You actually save time by not stopping to talk to an employee because you still have to go to that aisle and search for the specific product you want.
>>
>>28098238
I work at K-Mart. There are a lot of things they do wrong. There's a reason they're going out of business. However, one thing it does do right (along with the vast majority of retail stores) is enable me to answer a customer's question "lol where tf is this" in 5 seconds. Not even 5 seconds, more like 2. And most customers walking into PetSmart will come in with the same assumption, that they can ask a simple question like a normal person, and you can rattle off the simple answer instantly like a normal person.

>I have to stop what I'm doing, walk you over to where the shit you want is, and either point to or physically hand you the product you want. At that point I have to stand there with the customer while they compare brands and sizes and prices and other bullshit until they're satisfied with what they want. All because this is company policy and I get written up and bitched at if I don't go through this song and dance
Don't blame the customer for how idiotic and unnatural your company policy is.
>>
>>28098217
>as if i fucking care about your one fucking franchise's "store protocol"
You're making up lies about sign placement. Get over the fact that I proved you wrong. Again, keep replying to me. You're only helping my case.
>What kind of sheltered life or stupid luck do you have to have to assume signs are even remotely accurate
Every store I walk into that uses signs is accurate. I've lived in 4 states, and it is always the same. Bed Bath and Beyond? Would you look at that, bedding is in the linen section. Grocery store? Would you look at that, chips are in the chip aisle. Petsmart? Would you look at that, dog food is where the signs say dog food. In literally 90% of the store. Everywhere. At the entrance.

Just admit it dude, you are incapable of cognitive function. I'm not trying to be mean or throw generic insults, but hy definition you are subhuman. Deep inside, you know this too. Your family and the people who pretend to be your friends would benefit if you crawled in your closet and decomposed.
>>
>>28098387

My store actually puts things where we say we put them so if you read the signs you'll actually find what you're looking for.

>Don't blame the customer for how idiotic and unnatural your company policy is

But it's "good customer service". Shouldn't you be striving to provide "excellent customer service" to your store's patrons?

No one is just talking about Petsmart but you, kid.

So in other words, "muh personal experience?" Most stores I've been to don't have good sign placement and it IS much easier and faster just to ask a front end employee.

>Just admit it dude, you are incapable of cognitive function.
You do realize that you're replying to more than one person, right? I'm not the guy in 28098217.
And it's funny how a 20 year old Petsmart cashier is saying this to likely 2+ professionals.

Sad truth is they don't give a shit about the sale. Things like "window time" or "serve time" are usually corporate evaluation metrics that only serve to evaluate how well a particular location is gaming your system. If your location does poorly only them corporate reams you the fuck out.
>>
>>28098615
This is correct.

2 seconds not searching for shit is 2 more seconds I get to spend with my wife, my kid, my pets, or doing some shit I enjoy.

Or are you just surprised users of a 4chan board famous for being anti-social dislike the social aspects of their jobs?

Any idiot off the street can do anyone's job, given the training and education. "Skilled labor" is barely at any more premium than remedial labor, and the people in "skilled labor" are just average people off the streets, educated idiots, such as yourself.

You think I want this still? It's been 8 years of hell working part-time in this shithole company.
I want out so bad. I want a life of my own, but I unfortunately also have an autistic younger brother to care for. No. Not 4chan autsitic, literal, has mental breakdowns, self-harms and makes inhuman noises autistic. Obsession with cartoon characters and collecting DVDs autistic.
I work part-time doing stuff for him. Taking him out of his room, going to movies, eating out at lunch. Constantly watching for his triggers and his personal safety. Because I can't trust anyone else to do it. Everyone eventually drops out and it's back to me sorting shit out because my parents work full-time.
A lot of his care package has fallen through. The woman handling his case has had to elevate his priority because she admitted to me that they failed to do a good job so far.
Hell, if a random social worker hadn't got into contact with my parents a few years ago, we wouldn't even have that. He'd be sitting around doing jack because we can barely afford to have a roof over our heads as is.

Hired hands don't educate and tutor him, they just expect him to wander around like a robot/retard. But he's actually quite smart and ambitious, just incredibly vulnerable and has communication issues that hold him back constantly.

I only got my degree because he had somewhere to go, a life skills unit, but he's 'graduated' from that and has to be legally supported like an adult at 23 even though he has the mental maturity of a 6 year old.

So fuck you anon. I have to endure half a week listening to borderline retards less capable than my brother spew a load of dumb, patronising shit, all because it's the only job flexible enough to support my care work and tutoring.

I try to start up a nice discussion, and it gets to a point where I try to take the conversation further into something more advanced and it sails over their heads because I'm talking about things they've never heard of before.
Sure to some of them that's interesting, but to me it's not because I'm not getting a return on their end.

Acting like myself is just alienating, and putting on a facade each day is emotionally and physically stressful and draining.

Can anyone honestly blame me for being apathetic and depressed?
My life has become a groundhog day of hell, serving old people and housewives and foreigners who can't even speak English, with no sense of progress. One step forward, two steps back.

Being there reminds me of my own failures and inadequacy and I often wish I never existed at all.

I hated night shift. It took a couple weeks before I adjusted to sleeping during the day. I was lonely as fuck. It was dark while I was doing shit. Had to stay up/in town later if I wanted to go to the bank or something. Leaving to go to work after it had gotten dark and having it dark outside while I was doing stuff was the worst.

I don't know how, but I've reached a level of apathy that bores me so much I refuse to acknowledge small talk anymore. A blank stare and a question of if you would like your milk in a bag is all you'll get out of me. I don't wear my name tag either, because it's weird to have people call you by name that don't know you. But I'm the fastest cashier and occasionally get red cards so noone higher up gives a shit

Fuck that shit, I got tires replaced at Wal Mart and they tried to make me pay full price for a new tire that was under warranty when I ran over a nail. The slack-jawed white nigger's reasoning was that I drove the car on the flat tire after I ran over the nail. I guess in his mind, if you run over a nail on the highway, your car teleports to a safe place to change the tire. If I didn't fight back, I would have paid for his retardation myself.

Do you have rituals? Like each day you absolutely HAVE to do something to feel secure and safe? Like an OCD compulsion? Do you freak out when something goes wrong and you can't indulge in these?

My younger brother has many of these. For example, each morning, despite my protests, my glasses teleport from my windowsill onto my face.
Now normally that wouldn't be too bad but my brother puts my glasses on my face BEFORE I wake up. Then he just leaves.
Its why I wear plastic frames now.

>get a shitty mcjob
>other employees constantly thanking me for doing exactly what I'm supposed to be doing
it's the weirdest shit. Like there's a dude who starts his shift at the end of my shift and every day he thanks me for doing the work I would have had to have done anyway regardless of whether or not he showed up. I'm getting paid for all this shit, it's not like I'm doing it out of charity or anything. Why constantly say thank you?
>>
>>28106251
hey man atleast they appreciate you doing your job

not everyone gets that kind of appreciation
>>
>>28106251
they probably dealt with co workers before you who barely did their shit and had to pick up their slack, kinda had the same thing happen to me a few times

>"does this have sugar in it?"
>gets pissed when I read the ingredients off of the box
>customer brings me a potted plant
>"how much sun does this plant need?"
>gets pissed when I read the plant label

there's no way to do these things without sounding like a smartass and offending the customer, but come on
retail workers don't have an encyclopedic knowledge on the details of every item in the store. we read labels just like customers (should) do

>veteransbux

Shits a myth.
This only applies of you retire or are disabled.

You dont just "get money" from being in the military

Granted...gi bill gives me a hkusing stipend for 1000 bucks every month tbay im attending....but in the summer....nothing. so i gotta hold down a job for the summer.

Also, married, and have a kid, i have responsibilities.

But...i did retail for 4 years before military.....so besides army bullshit, its all know.

I walked into a key holder position....but it still sucks balls
>>
>>28106251

I love the quaking of impotent rage that is the lowly retail/ fast food wagecuck.
>>
>>28106201
Also. Once gi bill runs out, tuition funding and housing stipend disappear too

Serving doesnt take care of you for life unless you retire. But it certainly was a building block FOR the rest of my life. I recommend it to anyone.

Without fail, everytime. They sit in the cafe with 5+ clean tables but pick the dirty one and demand someone to clean it when they're clearly serving customers

the reason retail is so shitty is because everyone shops, so working retail you end up having to deal with the dumbest shittiest examples of humanity that would have been killed off if it wasn't for technology and modern society subsidizing their mediocrity

to all retailbots in this thread: do whatever you can to get into a different job where you don't have to deal with customers. your mental health is at stake guys. do whatever it takes to get out!

I can appreciate this guy's enthusiasm but I didn't come to your fucking store for a comedy show. Don't lead me around the place for your skits. Give me what I fucking asked for. I'd like to talk to your manager.

In grocery i was cashier and moved up to supervisor/customer service desk
>got change for tillcucks
>voids
>rang alcohol for minors
Customer service desk was cool cause i didnt have to walk around all day

Now i work small retail pharmacy (pic of ad related). but EVERYONE puts ad up.
We work 2 person shifts.
On my shifts if the store manager isnt with me, i am the manager, you feel me?

Its cool being able to make all the decisions, the bad part is....you have to make all thr decisions.

But i work with fucking awsome, competent people. Like...i cant greentext you a shitty coworker from my current job.

Made a best friend working there (hi faggot)

Manager is super awsome too.

But its a good gig. I get done what i need during my shifts and the cashiers know their shit and know how to take care of customers, always on top of it.

The ONLY good part about my job is the people i work with, otherwise i woukd have left. I fucking hate retail, but its the only place i have experience, because i chose this over fastfood (thank god)

I did make friends but they left and I left shortly afterwards. The only good thing i got from walmart was the 10% discount card and 1 employee of the month. glad I left that shit heap. We had a lot of shoplifters too

Yes, it's in a really shit town with a lot of unemployment and drug use.
I used to work at another pharmacy in the middle of nowhere that had decent customers but the co-workers were really bad compared to the people I work with now.

what did they try to steal? isn't all the good shit behind the counter?

Depends man I'm not that guy your replying to though. The only thing behind the counter in my store is five hour energy and nicotine gum. Maybe some booze but that's it.
>>
>>28107462
uh cool but Im trying to ask pharmacybot
what are you doing lol
>>
>>28107406
>>28107421
A bunch of makeup, lighters, and heartburn medication.

>isn't all the good shit behind the counter?
We have lockboxes and tags for specific items but there's a lot of unprotected stuff. The store doesn't have cameras and the fragrance case doesn't even have a sliding door or lock on it. We have mirrors on the ceiling to watch thieves with but at this point it's easier to just stand next or walk next to them in the aisle to get them to leave faster.

We've had one woman come in a few times in the last couple years that managed to steal a tv, ten boxes of kcups, six containers of baby formula, four sets of printer cartridges, two ipad cases, and some other stuff like makeup.

>>
>>28107556
The big ones (walgreens, cvs, rite-aid) have them as seasonal items. The thing with pharmacies is that when they're built in low-income areas the local community uses them like a grocery store, so they carry a lot of stuff in them even if it's garbage.

>>28107572
The tv's or electronics aren't particularily good.
>>
>>28094414
Yes, we fucking hate that shit.
It's not my job to give a fuck about what you had for dinner or what you're gonna do after you leave the store.
Pay for your shit and fuck off.

>>28094444
Lol fuck you nigger
>>
>>28107642
Yeah I know but it sounds like we work in a similar environment.
