Compass is the ultimate trick. You'd still be able to see the sun, so you would just have to wait till the sun is setting or rising to know exactly what direction is which

My plan is to put on the clothes, and gather enough dry sticks and leaves to start a forest fire. Once it gets pretty huge, I use the cell phone to call 911 and have them come and rescue me. Once I get back, sell the gold.

That's a lot of rope, this effectively makes clothing and boots useless in my opinion as you can easily make sandals, simple clothing and a fishing net once you get the right sticks.

Knife - speaks for itself. Axe is a close second but knife has more uses
Lighter - making fire obviously, and will still produce sparks when out of fuel.

Now its tricky, lighter,compass,boots/clothes,flashlight,handflare are all options. Boots is better than clothes since we already have ropes and its harder to make shoes out of ropes. Flashlight is better than a lighter since we can make fire without a lighter too, and the flashlight can be used to try to communicate with others who might see it. (We assume it has batteries in it), handflare is too risky and we already kind of gamble with the phone. While it is possible to not get lost, I think boots is the strongest option, second would be compass, then flashlight. Fastest way to die would be by getting cut on the foot while trying to move forward, so boots are a huge boost, and while rope could in theory replace it, I would rather make sure I do not get into trouble if I can.
