Found Game Maker and spent hours on it implementing ideas poorly. So I took part in GM forums and, of course, I played a lot of games from NG for new ideas.
I used GM exclusively with GML code but I never had my own computer until about 3 years ago. I was interested in ActionScript but never got around to it for the aforementioned reason. Now that I have a pc I actually tried coding games from scratch until at some point I gave up because I was using C/C++ and I can't get myself to write python.

It's my understanding that certain bands sued him into the ground for unauthorized use of their songs. After that I guess he just called it quits or otherwise lost interest. But yeah, it's like Rob Lewis and all his creative works disappeared from the Internet for awhile, and exist now only as archived flash animations and independently uploaded videos. Yes, there were copyright disputes with several bands. Most notably, System of a Down was upset about the use of Toxicity as background music for The Carrot Patch, and pretty much had it shut it down. I like their music alright, but that was kind of a dick move on their part IMO. Even Metallica, who are notorious for making a fuss over this issue, actually endorsed his Whiskey in a Jar video. It was great stuff.

I finally got "high speed" internet in 2001, and at that point, one word, and only one word.. Newgrounds.
I had already been browsing Ebaumsworld (no meme), then I discovered Stickdeath and thought I was "fucked up" for watching those cartoons.
I spent lots of time mostly gaming, and not really getting on the internet to browse sites. God I wasted my years.
But when I did get on, I would play Flash games... countless memories, unrecognized masterpieces and works of art whose names I can no longer recall but only describe... God we had artists, and I wonder where they all are today.
I eventually discovered free MMOs (mostly Korean) and I became involved in the forums of those games... jumping from game to game.
When my friend introduced me to 4chan in 2007 it changed my life, it would be the one website I would end up visiting for the next 10 years.
Throughout college I would basically consume a diet of Reddit, 4chan, several news sites, old forums, webcomics, Deviantart and email.
I remember when we talked about "Websites" like you were a "member" of that site. Nowadays its like - your just a member of society, which is one with the internet.
