I watch anime and browse imageboards. I don't really play video games because man am I awful at anything that poses a slight challenge.
DF is pretty much the only game I play these days. Problem is i'm over most of the learning curve, so it seems alot easier for me than it used to be.
At the moment i'm stuck with an aboveground stone fort in the tundra, near a gobbo civ but still haven't had a large enough population for an invasion. Also, this happened recently. How he got through my gates, past my barracks, into the basements, and then escaped blind drunk still astounds me. I should make some polar bear statues in his honour

i've built a pump stack but considered it a pain and unnecessary
i know how they work, but by the time i bother using them i've already got a military clad in steel and a vault full of gold crafts
i've played adventurer mode a few times, but prefer fortress mode
the only thing that took me a while to do was learn to breach an aquifer, but i got that sorted now
don't worry, there's still plenty of fun to be had in roleplaying and other scenarios
for example, i still haven't managed to get a fortress going in a haunted glacier or tundra biome yet

I've played for years and I've never embarked in a haunted area. I just don't get around to it, really, I always have other plans, usually involving a place with a wide variety of wild animals such as an untamed wilds tropical moist broadleaf forest. I really like animals.
Lately I've kindof been wanting to turn my attention to the caverns, maybe even seal myself off from the surface.

actually i think the key to surviving in a haunted biome would be to seal yourself off and live off the caverns, so you could do both
plenty of animals down there too
the problem i have with the haunted biomes though is the fucking haunted rain, it gives dwarves all kinds of illness, so they end up standing around refusing to work while their skin rots off or something
