I have this fantasy I like to think about sometimes once a month or so
Basically everyone in Africa right now disappears, gone off the face of the Earth.
That includes all the Chinese colonizers, all the doctors without borders and western egalitarians working there.
Its totally empty, and its resources and minerals and stock of water and oil have been repleted.
It's scramble for Africa 2.0 modern day edition, only this time the countries who put the most into it will get the most out of it and Africa becomes a major battleground with first come first serve claims for now and later dirtier wars of territory and resources between the major powers that scramble their forces there first.
The international community came into agreement that no nukes would be used ever on the African continent though, to prevent wasting of valuable resources and territory.
Also all wild animals and animals near extinction or whatever have quadrupled in number so they pose a massive threat now, to simple infantry and light troops sometimes, especially the predators.
And so when the scramble is first starting out there are a few skirmishes between countries but nothing major because theres so much for the taking, a few months or years later when most territory is staked and claimed, the skirmishes and wars of aggression begin to build up, and its more than the wild animals that will have to be dealt with then, but rival nations and their armies seeking more and more resources.
I like to think what the major players in this initial scramble would be- USA, Russia, Europe (would EU band together or disband and individual nations would scramble to have everything for themselves?), China ( especially after losing some hundreds of thousands of Chinese in the magical disappearance of all humans in Africa, but they have like millions more so its no big deal), Australia and New Zealand, and maybe some Middle Eastern countries, and India, anyone in proximity to Africa, maybe even Brazil.
