If you're so smart you can find things that idiots are doing at work that are wasting money. I know I do. So much so, that a lot of my ideas are received as "Well that's a good idea but these people are idiots so they won't do it".
I'm limited by incompetence of upper managers. That's literally all. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't, sometimes it takes a while for them to finally do things my way. It's not a tough spot to be in if you're actually smart and not at a top-tier company.

For context I'm a developer. Everyone I work with is insanely intelligent. I've never been surrounded by a more competent group of people in my life. I'm not flat out retarded, but I'm definitely the least intelligent and least experienced person in the room.
I'm far from lazy nowadays, but I'm pretty slow on the uptake and something that will take someone else 35 minutes will take me an hour.
It's been getting better and I'm improving but boy it's a shock to the system. Especially if you've been a "smart but lazy" chump all your life.
