In a traditional relationship, the woman should be held to a higher standard, as she'll be the one home more often, and will be the one feeding the kids for the early parts of their life. In a non-traditional relationship, it's not as important.
To be honest, my husband cooks much, much better than I do, because he can't stand any kind of mediocrity in himself. I never meant to imply there's anything wrong with a guy wanting to be the best at what he does.
