I stream because i like to be ablento browse through anime the way i browse through books. If i torrented everything, i would have to look up and figure out the best torrents. With streaming it's like having an infinite library of anime. Also, not everyone has a great connection for torrenting. I get great fps when streaming, but torrents always end up broken or lagging. Streaming is just more fun, i watch anime to relieve stress, not create it.

See, I'd disagree and say that there's zero advantage to downloading when you could just stream. I've been into the anime and fansub scenes longer than some of the people posting on /r9k/ have been alive, and I can't even begin to express how happy I was when Crunchyroll came around and suddenly I could start watching an epsode immediately and finish before a torrent would have downloaded.

No shitting up my hard drive with forgettable flavor of the week anime, no dumbass fansubbers making shit up when they don't understand a line, no shows losing their group when they get a C&D halfway through the season, and as a nice bonus the Japanese industry actually pays attention to view numbers on CR et al, so there's a tiny chance that watching it there will up the likelihood of a second season or whatever.

I just see no reason to go out of my way to find a torrent, sit there waiting for it to download for anywhere between 15 mins and an hour and have my browsing crippled while I wait, fuck with stupid media players and .mkv subs, and then have some mediocre show shitting up my hard drive.

Oh, and I like to watch on my TV sometimes too, which is dead simple with streaming and a pain with fansubs. If I like something enough that I want a permanent copy, I'll just buy the Blu-Rays, which are cheap from Funimation or expensive but come with cool shit when they're Aniplex or whatever.

Now, manga is another story. Print manga is overpriced as fuck in America, subscription digital manga barely exists, and releases don't show up in English until the tankos come out in Japan, which can take years. I'll pay a few bucks a month for a manga subscription if they get a library as big as CR's anime library, but for now scanlations are where it's at. (And, on a side note, tablets are fucking awesome for reading manga.)
>>
Why do people mock streaming anime when you can stream at 720 nowadays no problem?
>>
>>28016363
It's some kind of superiority complex thing that makes them feel better than the supposed "casuals" that stream.

Which is funny, because I grew up swapping 6th generation VHS fansubs and getting releases from IRC, and now everybody I know from those days streams and absolutely loves it.

Maybe they're just so broke that they can't afford to pay the price of one trip to McDonalds per month for HD and no ads?
>>
>>28016334
>No shitting up my hard drive with forgettable flavor of the week anime
Why is pressing the delete key so hard for some retards?

>no dumbass fansubbers making shit up when they don't understand a line
CR, Funi, and the like screw up just as often (if not more than fansubs).

>no shows losing their group when they get a C&D halfway through the season
I can't think of a single time this has happened in the last 8 years, can you?

>and as a nice bonus the Japanese industry actually pays attention to view numbers on CR et al
lol no
Even if they did, why on earth would you want the industry to be ruined by the types of retards that pay for CR?

>go out of my way to find a torrent
Because typing in a name on nyaa is so hard. Even better, if you are legitimately that lazy/stupid you can use RSS.

>sit there waiting for it to download for anywhere between 15 mins and an hour
If it takes you 15 minutes to download an episode you sure as shit aren't getting a stream to load instantly.

>fuck with stupid media players and .mkv subs
Yeah, setting up CCCP is so hard. Oh wait, no, it's not.

>then have some mediocre show shitting up my hard drive
This bullshit argument AGAIN

tl;dr go home shill, no shekels for you
>>
>>28016621
>I can't think of a single time this has happened in the last 8 years, can you?

I can think of a few times, but it may have been more than 8 years ago. I still remember being salty as fuck when Starship Operators got dropped on episode 8 of 12.

>lol no
>Even if they did, why on earth would you want the industry to be ruined by the types of retards that pay for CR?

Can't speak for the retards, but yes, I know for a fact that the industry pays attention to CR/Funi/Daisuki numbers, quite a bit actually. I used to work in the industry and discussed it quite a bit with people on both sides of the Pacific.

>If it takes you 15 minutes to download an episode you sure as shit aren't getting a stream to load instantly.
That's true of new releases, but what I want to watch an obscure show from five or six years ago and the only seed is some guy on a toaster on a 56k connection? Streaming sites have huge back catalogs of instantly available series that nobody but me apparently cares about.

See, here's the part I don't get. I can click on CR in my favorites, click an episode in my subbed shows, and immediately be watching, or I can go sit down on my couch and within a couple of minutes be watching an episode on my 60" Smart TV. Why would I forego that convenience to get the exact same product but with more hassle and stupid earthquake warnings shitting up the screen? I see no advantage to watching fansubs, except "not being a casual."
>>
>>28016621
I can't watch a torrented show on my phone/tablet.

Nyaa is sometimes unreliable.
>>
>>28014945
Except streaming has the obvious advantage of being convenient. Click a thumbnail and I'm watching the new episode
