Parents literally never once in my life helped or fucking cared about my school performance. Zilch. Nothing. Never once helped me study, didn't give a flying shit about my grades, as long as it wasn't an F. Dad worked 2 jobs, came home and drank beer until he fell asleep, mom just watched TV all day. They just let me play vidya all my life.

not OP, but I remember feeling like a useless pile of shit before I got prescribed drugs for my ADHD. It helped me sort together some shit and start a daily routine that I now carry on without taking the meds anymore.
The meds can help give you that boost you need to get on the right track.
And I never took them everyday like the doc said I should, because I didn't want my tolerance to build up. I only used them on days I needed them.
