Anyway, I had a friend like that - we met in high school as suicidal teenagers, and gave each other something resembling a reason to live. We've long since grown apart, though, my friend now has a better life, a gf, and seems pretty happy. I'm now surplus to requirements. So yeah, you can build a bond on that feel, but it only lasts so long as both people are in a bad place and need each other for sanity.
