Halo 3 was the biggest. GTAV was a recent big one. Maybe dark souls 3.
private servers in any free-to-play game are usually a good way to make friends, even if that game is normally shit for making friends
eg ss13, tf2, minecraft servers are all decent places to meet you're internetfu despite pub servers being awful for it

I've made practically all my Online friends in tf2. And some in cs go. I recommend tf2. something as simple as hitting a guy with a pan, spawn camping, and pocket medics can make a friend that you talk with everyday

I met cool dudes on minecraft servers. Most mmorpg games are pretty easy to make friends in. In runescape there was always that group of cool kids who stood by the Varrock castle wall near the staff shop, to the left of the bear fur guy.
