One of my favorite things about living near a military base is seeing the choppers going by all the time. I thought it would get annoying after awhile but it is still cool to see and hear them.

I live near an air force base, sometimes If I'm lucky I see F-16's and those big transport jets fly over.
Most of the time it's copters tho.
When I was younger I'd spend all this time imagining CoD-like action vidya scenes and shit, and a lot of them revolved around helicopters. My favorite involved one chasing another with a guy on the behind one hanging off the feet shooting at the first one with an M16. Then they crash but he jumps into the one being chased and throws out the pilot, you're after this other guy. But he's got a deagle and you two fight over it, shooting off six till you get it and point it at him. He puts his finger in the barrel and really slows down the bullet as it makes a flesh wound in his neck or something, you kick him out but he falls into this building. Now you have to land a chopper with malfunctioning controls somewhere dramatic I forgot where

Holy shit does anyone remember an early Playstation game where you were a helicopter? Maybe around 1997. It just came back to my memory and it was so good old shit. Birds eye view, flying around and staffing shit. You'd have a cable and pick up upgrades and stuff and have to fly them back to landing pads

Ok, seriously though, helicopters are awesome, and fun as fuck. I've flown Robinsons a few time and they're way more fun than the fixed-wing equivalents I've flown. (Cessna 152 and 172 and a Diamond Katana, which on a side note is probably the most cringeworthy name I've ever heard for a thing ever.)

Yeah, same here. It's really expensive too, like 80k by the time you have enough training and flight hours to fly for a living.
There's something really damn cool about helos, and I wish I could fly them more. It's like the feeling of independence and freedom you get from your first bike or car, but times 10, and the fact that it's such a difficult thing to learn and do and that it's kind of dangerous means flying them makes you feel like a total badass.
