It's not a meme at all, the NEET life is better than anything else.
This doesn't mean it's good, however.
In most places it's awful. You get just enough so you don't starve to death, you're looked upon as a dreg by all people. Work, even though in a society where wage slavery exists is demeaning, gives people a small degree of fulfillment and occupies a persons time and gives them a small amount of purpose.
