The main problem is that when we find those things we want and need, we do not feel like we have the capacity to get them, mainly because the standards alone are high, wich makes us think they are far away from us.
Yes, it is easy to get a girlfriend and be socially adept, but not as easy as getting overwhelmed by our own expectations. Something that happens because we are not looking for ephimeral pleasure. The people who say those things is people who is already happy and seek an ephimeral sense of pleasure in relationships, because they find happiness in selfishness and just because they love themselves a lot. Meanwhile, we are here, we are not emotionally satisfied with ourselves, that is why we seek for happiness, because being ourselves does not mean being happy, because living is not enough, because we need someone to rely on, because we alone are not enough for ourselves, not because we are selfish, but because we find happiness in things that are not ourselves.
