For me personally it was never having my affection reciprocated by the girls I liked. No woman wants the runt of the litter. Further disillusionment came as being an ideological feminist (because I love my sisters and mother) and realizing how absolutely wrong I was. About everything regarding women. I have a story like this but with two girls.
When I was hiking the AT approach in Georgia and came to the first shelter after the hike inn. When I was resting there a father and his two daughters came up and sat down to rest. The daughters looked to be at least in their late teens, and were complaining about how they had no service and couldn't get on snapchat. I looked at the father and saw that he was trying to hide his slight anger and disappointment.
