it's because when you're young you look at your face and go "well those features have room/time to develop into something that looks good" but then as time goes on your chin gets weaker and weaker and your brow line starts growing out more and your chin remains prepubescent levels of pointy and you can't stop it from happening you can just look in the mirror and cry as the years go by
I'm on the fence about whether it's good to be attractive or not. If you're good looking, people in general treat you better, but you get lots of awkward come-ons that you may not welcome. On the other hand, if you're ugly, you might have the intimidation factor but it's scowls all day. Most people can change their appearance to be more attractive, or mean-looking. It's up to you decide which works better in the moment.
