Women are often foolishly assume men are attracted to status, so you'll see women brag about their college education, their "successful" career, or even their sexual accomplishments in a horribly misguided attempt at displaying higher value. So many of them fail to realize men don't really care, and some even find it unattractive for a woman to have many partners.
On the other side, men often fail to realize women aren't nearly as visual as we are. That isn't to say that they don't value looks, it's just not the primary thing. For us, looks are #1. Anyone who claims otherwise is either lying to others or lying to themselves. However, women are much more concerned about image/ social status, and maybe money/security/resources.
Being physically attractive obviously does huge benefits to image, but it isn't the whole thing.
I am not saying looks don't matter. They do. An unattractive man is definitely going to have it rough. But there's more to it than just looks. After a certain threshold, there is diminishing returns. Being slightly above average in looks won't boost your sexual value nearly as much as being a very popular/successful/high status man of only average looks.
Obviously when I say looks, I'm including height. Taller than other guys roughly translates to more attractive than other guys.
