I think this is literally a generational thing. Having grown up with, or in the shadow of, 'classic' rock a lot of modern bands take their influence from them. Thus the sound is familiar and acceptable to almost everyone under say 60/70. Hip hop and electronic music have had a lot less time to gestate in the popular culture. You can notice the trend starting to shift. Even people who find modern rap/electronic garbage are likely to appreciate earlier stuff like say Kraftwerk, or NWA. It won't be long until the 'only rock bands are proper music' generation die out and the public general accept electronic music in general.
I have no idea what this nonsense about 'objectively garbage' is though. There's so much fantastic, experimental music being made in almost all genres. You're just ignorant to change if you think music finished with dad rock.I love dad rock, just so you know.

I have quite a lot of money so can cover initial 2 months rent no problem and not have to wait donkeys for a shitty 1 bed council flat in a drug tower. My parents actively encouraged me to do this. They've been bennie scroungers their entire life. You'd think you'd want to encourage your kids to do better, but I guess when you've had 5 of them, you start to not give much of a shit anymore.
