I teach at a private eikaiwa. I teach everything from kids to teenagers; adults and old folks. Some people are hired through government programs and teach junior/high school exclusively etc.
Getting a gig is easy if you have (any) degree. Be wary, though, because lots of jobs suck ass. Many, many places exploit the shit out of teachers, so it can be tough to find/recognize the non-shit companies. Be critical, and realize that you are probably worth a lot, at least if you have a degree and/or experience. Don't let them fuck you. I got fucked in my first job.

I like Japanese girls, and this is coming from a guy who moved to Japan without even the slightest yellow fever at all. I am from Denmark, so I can relate to Scandinavian girls being great, but they're also very... modern? Progressive? I still haven't found the right terminology. Japanese women are more cute, coy and feminine in a less aggressive way. I can't put it very well, but I have been extremely pleasantly surprised.

As for the Philippines, it's a matter of taste. They don't look like Chinese/Korean/Japanese women at all. As noted, I don't like their looks at all, but you might. They're short and sun-burned. I am still in the process of digesting all this myself, and trying to articulate to myself how the major differences show themselves. I suppose the problem is that the differences are minor, certainly compared to Scandinavian women. I have only been here for around 4 months.
Both groups are smart, well-dressed and good company, but Japanese culture is extremely unique. From they're very young they're taught in a different way than us. They don't drink until they're 20, they wear school uniforms, ask students they don't ask "Why?", or ever really question the system. As a teacher I could stand in front of a class of 16 year olds and talk about the difference fart smells in Western countries and they'd never question me. In Denmark as an English teacher (my last job), every lesson started with me explaining *why* they had to learn the day's material.
They don't mind showing a bit of weakness, I think, and to fawn over the guy a bit. Not all girls, of course, but generally. It is a factor that many Japanese men went women who are extremely submissive and loli-esque. Their smiles, manner and general behavior is just feminine in a different but-not-orthodox way.
I am shit at explaining. I have even been on dates with Japanese girls but can't think of any hard-hitting, solid examples.
