So the Owner, Store Manager, Store Managers Pet Monkey/adoptive brother to Owner,and Regional Meat Buyer were chilling in the office. There was a bottle of "$900" whiskey on the table and a bunch of used cups because it was Owners birthday. Store Manager asks me if I want some with a chuckle. as an employee you can make up whatever price you want. if a customer comes in without an appointment, you can make the car $30 a day or $90 a day, depending on what you think the person would be willing to pay
employees can waive up to three days without even being asked about it or waive all the gas charges or really anything. i frequently just give people free gas because im too lazy to argue about it
in your first year you are judged entirely on what % of people are willing to buy the insurance. you have to consistently get roughly 50% of people to buy it, to get promoted, then you never have to do sales again.
since its based on percentage, everyone person who does not buy the insurance, hurts your career.
since you have to do hard sales like th0at 20-30x a day (workweek is 50 hours minimum, most people get burned out and few last a few months
its a good job though, you make $45k the first year and then it goes up very quickly. usually 6 figures after 6 years

I'll tell you a little story. Back in the 80s I worked as a consultant at an internationally renowned company. One of my projects was to help the police set up a scanner that would allow operators to more quickly pinpoint where a phone call was coming from. Me and the chief of police (great guy) flew down to Dallas for some sightseeing and so we could have a look at the scanner installed there. While we were in the station, there was an announcement made. Don't remember exactly what it was, but basically translated to "someone awaiting trial has escaped. The chief I was with told me to stay where I was, pulled out his revolver, and joined the hunt for this guy.
Long story short, they caught the guy, shot him in the leg, beat the shit out of him, and sent him to the hospital. Guy was a druggie (like you). Chief told me that he loved catching scum like that, and if it were up to him he'd round up every rapist, woman beater, druggie, and nigger and execute them.
Point is, most of society hates your guts, druggie. You're a failure. That's all you'll ever be.

Beach hotel recreation staff. My job was essentially to put out 140 chairs and 50 umbrellas for guests throughout the day, and then lock them back up at the end of the night. Admittedly his anecdote doesn't prove much, but it's true that there isn't a place in mainstream society for drug users. Alcohol or cannabis recreationally when you aren't supposed to be at work/being productive is one thing, but beyond that you're firmly on the outskirts. I've been on both sides of that line, and it's easy to trick yourself into thinking that there's some sort of acceptance for drug use when you're surrounding yourself with your druggie friends, but there isn't. You literally cannot do anything in life with a drug habit.
