I had this happen to my laptop and it actually lasted right up until I spilt cider on the keyboard while playing a video game in haste. It was a bit shitty to start up sometimes but I just spammed it and I honestly think it would have lasted maybe another 6 months and it did this for about half a year. Sometimes it didn't turn on but I just left it for a few hours doing the repair thing and then spammed the on button again and it was good as gold. I think you appreciate it better when it does this, I miss that laptop a lot. It's a bonding experience. It was too glitchy to backup my files onto a cloud though and I do recommend you get an external hard drive and save your stuff asap though.

The into reason windows vista was bad is because when it was released the computers couldn't handle it. By the time Windows 7 was released the computers had the specs needed, so they thought it was better. Also manufactures didn't have drivers for it yet.
Windows 7 is literally windows vista rebrand, with drivers preinstalled.

For a live session you want to use ubuntu mate or kubuntu. The lighter the os the better because transfer speeds are bad. In general it doesn't matter but for this a windows installation will be slow as fuck
