As a personal example, a lot of people would probably think of me as being some kind of manchild if they knew most of my favorite shows are cartoons, that I don't give a fuck about professional sports, and that I'd rather stay at home and play video games than go to a party with mostly strangers.
BUT, being honest with what you're into also means you're more likely to find other people with similar interests and values, and waste less time with people that you have no chemistry with. Most people live unpleasant lives.
My advice is to come up with a mission for yourself. Write a book, build a machine, program a game, etc. Something large-scale that will be the primary focus of your life. Think of your life like a candle that's burning. It will burn out in 60 years regardless of what you do, but you can choose to use the heat for something important. Once you find that thing, make it more important than everything else (job, friends, family, etc.), so no matter what you're doing you have something better to think about. That's what I do, and it works well.
