Older anon here, working in tech.
I always found suits comfortable and...well, fun. It felt like I was putting on a costume to play a role. It was cool to add personal touches, like interesting suspenders, a tie-tac with special meaning, custom cuff links, etc.
Now, almost all tech places are casual. Not even "business casual" khakis and polo, but "anything goes".
I don't feel anything special getting ready for the office now. In fact, most of the time I work from home and don't even bother dressing at all.
It's not the same. I think RB has the right attitude.
Oh, and what the woman said above seems to be true. When I dress up in a suit, I'll get approving comments from women.
Not something most of us could pull off in college, but I had a friend in school who was always impeccably dressed, and usually had a gorgeous woman on one arm, too.
