People on here sure love to spout the term autistic. Elliot's real problem was he was never taught that HE was supposed to ask the girl out, so he never did. He always waited to be approached. All around him through his teens were boys getting laid, uglier boys, shorter boys, anything, they were getting pussy left and right while he sat there miserable. This continued for years and obviously led to mental problems, years of pure sexual frustration and being ostracized will do that to anyone. Then he developed an addiction for WoW instead of forcing himself to go out and socialize so his social circle was very small, he spent many many months wasting his life on WoW. This obviously had a very bad impact on his social skills.
So he went online and went to the worst possible websites he could've found, PUA websites. They filled his mind with the ideology that it's the womens fault, not his. This made him hate women, and hate people who experienced things he didn't.
Below the surface, he seemed like a very depressed person, understandably. He talked about how he wishes he could've experienced this love that so many people around him regularly did, he was aware of all he missed out on. But then his contempt and mental problems started to take control, and finally he snapped. When all he needed was someone to teach him he's the one who must persevere and find a girl himself.
I'm not defending him by the way, just trying to explain how everything lead up to him becoming a mass shooter, and all the wrong events coming together to create him. All in all, it was an addiction to WoW, sexual frustration, some bullying, and poor social skills.
